Why is there no torrent?! (Or even a regular download of all the songs in one tar/zip?)

December 16th, 2017 - 21:30:20

This is a superb project; evocative and skilled. I think a lot of the comments on each tracks are super-harsh- I hope they did not put you off.

June 29th, 2017 - 20:10:49

After all these years I keep listening to your tracks. It surely wasn't easy to create all this work of arts. (And the other amazing thing is the SC websites are still alive despite being that old.)

Great work guys! Thank you so much for completing all the songs. I've checking out this website for years!

I played SC2 on DOS back in '92 and this is the game that made me buy a Gravis UltraSound. :) Love hearing all the remixes vs the original MOD. Ah the nostalgia!

The Precursors team page seems to be broken though. ;)

February 13th, 2017 - 17:45:35

The music is phenomenal! It captures the nostalgia of the game, but elevates to an even fuller sound. Thank you! Star Control 2 was a fulfilling experience then and now. I just beat the Ur-Quan Masters three times in the last month; once with the original music and twice with the remixes. Now I listen to the soundtrack to get me through my work day.

January 26th, 2017 - 23:01:57

Nice music =)

November 11th, 2016 - 23:44:25

Great job! I tried the original sound and then added the remix... worlds better!

November 10th, 2016 - 21:47:39

Do you know where I could obtain a midi file that closely approximates the original? (Looking for Yehat specifically)

June 1st, 2016 - 03:10:29

Please let me know if it would be in any way possible to get this amazing soundtrack pressed in vinyl. Minimum order is 200 for $1,600USD which is $8 per record.
I would be 100% willing to cover the up front expense AND find buyers for the 1598 copies I don't personally need (at whatever price you deem fit), as long as the profits go to the appropriate source/cause/charity.

I very much dig your version of the music, but if the rights reside with TfB, just let me know and I will contact them. Either way, I appreciate your time. Please don't publish this post =)

I hope it is ok if I used some of the music to present some of my paintings: https://vimeo.com/147183103

I credited the composer - but would be happy to include more information - or follow any instructions by creator. Really like the music. Always loved SC and it's incredible loyal following.

December 3rd, 2015 - 15:38:37

Only few games in the 90s came close to the test of time. One of them was Star COntrol 2! Nothing even by today's standard came close except for very fw which you can count with one hand.

As for the remixes, its awesome. Great work and dedication by really talented people here. Hope if they ever get around to making Star COntrol 4, they use your music!

I've been listening to these tracks for years while I work. Would be interested in donating to help host the files on site with more bandwidth.

August 22nd, 2015 - 20:19:58

This is awesome! I was too young a kid when the orignal SC2 came out, but I did dig into The Ur-Quan Masters remake and had tons of fun. Just today happened on some SC2 music on youtube and eventually stumbled here. Heartfelt thanks for these remakes! Will download these tracks and put them on my mp3-player so I can listen to them while jogging!

April 29th, 2015 - 01:23:22

Thank you , ThAnK YoU for all your work
thank you for free download
and thank you fore making me dream every time I play your star control 2 mixes

This is such an amazing project. I'm in love with this game and music. I'd gladly mirror files via my mediafire account if you ever need additional space. Thank you for all the hard work!

February 27th, 2015 - 13:36:18

Sorry, but there's no way to quickly get all the MP3s from our site right now without downloading them individually. It's a feature that would be nice to have, but we have limited storage space on this server. We'll absolutely consider it if there's interest in it.

February 25th, 2015 - 03:20:05

Is there some way to download the mp3 albums without having to individually click every link to every page? Please?

February 9th, 2015 - 16:51:15

You guys should put a donation link on your site. I would be honoured to be able to throw a few bucks your way to express how much I appreciate your efforts!

December 31st, 2014 - 04:25:23

I'm playing through The Ur-Quan Masters now, and I'm enjoying the remixes immensely. Great stuff - still creative and quirky as the original, but so much more polished.

December 12th, 2014 - 18:29:31

This project is amazing.

November 10th, 2014 - 11:12:38

I've stated this somewhere before, but FLAC releases for this project wouldn't really do much good. We don't have access to lossless versions of all the music in the first place. The bitrate at which these MP3s have been encoded should be good enough that most people would never be able to tell the difference with a FLAC anyway, especially considering the originals typically sound pretty "dirty" in this case anyway.

Individual artists may feel the desire to release lossless versions of their music. For my part, I don't. At least not for UQM, where it was hard enough to obtain MP3s and OGGs at a sufficient bitrate.

October 17th, 2014 - 21:46:08

Seconding -E-

FLACs of all the tracks would be amazing!

September 26th, 2014 - 20:44:32

I also ask for a lossless version. A fresh FLAC pull from the originals would be amazing.

Thank you for all 4 of these versions.

July 20th, 2014 - 15:14:42

Excellent remix. You really should release a lossless version. Also it's not very comfortable to download mp3 track one by one and fix the every track name. You should put an archive with music release (I'm not about .uqm archive with .ogg that designed for loop).

June 25th, 2014 - 17:00:07

Wow. I had given up on Remix Pack 4 and hadn't checked in over a year. Yesterday I read on the Ultronomicon site that the project is finally completed. I'm listening to the new pack now.

Thank you all for your work! ^_^

June 17th, 2014 - 09:15:37

Great music, *grand* respect!

May 4th, 2014 - 18:49:09

Sorry for the late reply. The music is only downloadable on a track by track basis if you want it for use outside of the game. You could download and extract the UQM files, but I strongly recommend against it since the files inside are OGG-files that are often designed for looping, whereas the MP3 files on this site are designed to be listened to in a music player, with proper beginnings and ends.

If the tracks play automatically when you try to download them, that means you've got a music player plugin installed in your browser. Since that doesn't sound like it's what you want, I recommend figuring out which plugin it is and uninstalling it, but even so, all you have to do to get around it is to right-click the download links and select "Save As" or "Save Link As". That'll bypass the plugin.

Hope that helps!

April 24th, 2014 - 09:10:44

If I am not mistaken, the .uqm file for the full music pack is really a compressed folder. I am unsure which archive type it really is (.zip or a .rar or something else), but I was able to open it up using zipeg. Hope this helps you out!

April 4th, 2014 - 18:32:46

Thanks guys, love your work!

March 26th, 2014 - 19:52:00

I checked back to this site after 5(!) years, and my dreams have come true! The 4th remix is finally done. I hold no grudge or animosity toward the wait, after all true art takes a long time. Thank you very much for this and I look forward to any music that any of you release in the future.

February 22nd, 2014 - 23:44:41

when i click download it simply plays the track im at, not downloads. and if i hit download on the wole album i end up with a .UQM

February 19th, 2014 - 12:54:27

Uh, this *is* where you download them as MP3s. Apart from downloading the entire in-game packs, that's the entire point of this site. Just go to the Download Music link.

February 14th, 2014 - 02:39:36

hey, i noticed i cant download the individual songs as just mp3s. is there any place i can download them as just mp3s?

January 16th, 2014 - 00:59:11

Excellent work. Fits the HD rendition perfect. I hope you guys have heard of Project 6014, and I hope the people working on it ask you to do some tracks for them.

December 21st, 2013 - 06:22:24

Have you ever considered producing sheet music? If so I would love to have the "Mystic Shadows" in sheet music form.

December 18th, 2013 - 00:55:29

great music, I wish there would be a lossless format available - FLAC if possible.

November 28th, 2013 - 20:41:56

Excellent work all around! If I had noticed the "Feedback" button before I would have thanked and congratulated you a long time ago. I tend to listen to your remixes even outside the game. If you ever start another project like this, please do mention!

Just wanted to say, "Thanks!" I've been a long time fan of SC2/UrQuan Masters sound track. Keep it up!

September 28th, 2013 - 16:40:11

You can contact us using the email links available on our artist pages. For convenience you may click the link in my name above this post as an alternative. As long as your YouTube video isn't of a commercial nature or contains inappropriate content, we don't tend to have a problem with people using our remixes. Just remember to credit us for our work.

September 25th, 2013 - 19:26:37

May I use your remixes in a gaming related youtube video, with full attribution? Sorry about posting this in feedback, couldn't find a contact email/form.

Big fan of your soundtrack for UQM!

Your project looks beautiful - I hope to try it soon

Excellent job, guys. Thank you very much for the time you've put into it. The goals of the project may be met, but I'll always be glad to see anything else that pops up here. :-)

May 31st, 2013 - 04:40:05

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

May 23rd, 2013 - 02:02:55

I'm glad to see that The Precursors got pack 4 out just prior to the Kohr-Ah defeating the Ur-Quan and taking the Sa-matra to cleanse us. :-)

May 10th, 2013 - 14:28:09

Tatrow, your question was answered two posts below your own post.

May 4th, 2013 - 00:18:57

Hi, me and my friends are making a video for youtube, and I want to know if I can use some of your music. I'm most curious if it's copyrighted so we're in the legal clear to use it?

Thanks, Tatrow

April 28th, 2013 - 10:32:37

Hi Precursors, I salute you who come before me :D

Joking aside, you guys have done such a great job! I absolutely love all the tracks you all have done. The remixes also go really well with the UQM HD remake. All I can say is that you guys have given my favorite game new life. Thanks!

April 8th, 2013 - 06:33:29

Feel free to send me an email (click my nickname) if you want to use the music for one of your hobby projects. In general it's fine to use it for non-commercial projects as long as you let us know about it, but commercial projects are no-go. If in doubt, ask!

As for sheets, MIDI files and such, those won't be available, at least not from me. Maybe you'll be luckier with other team members. I find that sheets would be of limited use anyway due to the complexity of the instruments.

April 6th, 2013 - 17:49:36

Is this royalty free music? Please reply I love the tunes and would like to use them in some youtube videos. :D

April 6th, 2013 - 14:50:38

Great music for a great game =)
Sheets (or some file format that could be used to transcribe the music) would be highly appreciated. At the moment I'm most interested in Mystic Shadows song.

April 6th, 2013 - 03:58:11

Can you guys please make a link to the license of this music?
Thank you!

March 18th, 2013 - 09:42:10

It's not really "missing" the Sentient Milieu track as such. It's just not part of the game, serving only as a little easter egg on the album. There is nothing to fix.

March 16th, 2013 - 11:47:33

I mean in the .uqm file, not on the webpage.

March 16th, 2013 - 11:41:28

Remix pack 4 seems to be missing track 15, could you fix that please?

Other than that, I would like to thank you all for your hard work, these remixes mean a lot to us. It's good see this project finished after so many years!

Best regards

February 20th, 2013 - 22:23:09

Speaking of which, the fourth remix pack is now ready for use in-game. It can be downloaded from the music page. Enjoy! :)

February 20th, 2013 - 21:40:55

In fact, I see my first comment in Jan 2004 :D

February 20th, 2013 - 21:40:12

I found out about this in 2003. At that time I'd just started my first job. I waited and waited, and waited some more. Finally after 10 years (I'm now married with 4 kids), I can finally complete my remix collection. Thank you for all the effort put into this. It was worth the wait :)

February 4th, 2013 - 14:22:27

Your question was already answered, as you yourself point out, so there's not much more for me to say. The in-game pack isn't being assembled by the Precursors, so the process is out of my hands. At this point, questions about the final pack should be directed towards the UQM team itself.

January 31st, 2013 - 08:51:45

I was looking for the in-game package for pack #4. From a comment below (Jan 5) I gather that is still in the works, and will be available soon...?

January 22nd, 2013 - 00:31:16

I just want to say, that you guys are musical geniuses. The quality of each and every music track, especially when played in-game, overwhelms in only the greatest of ways. If you were to put these tracks up for sale of some kind (I realize they're remixes and made for a remake of a game owned by a now-defunct gaming company), I'm sure the revenue they would generate would do much to reflect how well put together this music is. Absolutely beautiful.

I have recently rediscovered Star Control 2 when an HD remake of the Ur-Quan Masters was released, and that, combined with the new music, makes for a completely updated and modern experience (as modern as a game from the 90's can be of course).

Thanks for all of the hard work you've put into this music, and know that, well, everyone I'm sure, is thankful for it :). (I can only really speak for myself!)

Just came wandering through here as I've been playing these songs for my son and wondered how I could be missing so many aliens -- and discovered the final remix pack. I couldn't be happier. Thank you guys so much! Looking forward to the final Ogg remixes so I can introduce my son to the game with all the great new music, and the wonder of the game. Thank you guys for hanging in there.

January 5th, 2013 - 23:07:29

The Ogg files haven't been released yet. You'll be able to find links to them on this site once they are. Patience! I know for a fact that the final in-game package is almost done.

Does anyone have or know where to find .ogg formats for the intro, outro, credits, and yehat mix? I'm almost sure these are all I need to complete the transition from 3DO music to full precursors music and it would be greatly appreciated.

January 5th, 2013 - 13:57:37

WOW! Thanks for all the hard work and that you actually went through with it. Congratulations on finishing one of the coolest projects out there! I really enjoy your music and I hope to hear from you guys in the future!

January 4th, 2013 - 09:38:17

I think it's at the same time amazing and unbe_fucking_lievable that the fourth remix pack is finally out. Thanks for the hard work and the amazing songs you've released throughout the years.

Precursors' Star Control 2 remixes. May be dead, but never forgotten.

July 9th, 2012 - 10:39:38

Hi, guys!
I was a huge fan of Star Control 2 as a kid, and I listened to the soundtrack all the time.
The newer remixes are very impressive, and I was pleasantly surprised to see my own high expectations surpassed. I put many of them on a playlist I listen to regularly, as a result. I don't think they will ever get old.
I'm very happy that you guys had interest and energy to put into this project. I am sure I will enjoy listening to these tracks for many years to come.
Thanks again,

February 9th, 2012 - 05:47:48

Just a little note of thanks for the tunes. Highly appreciated over here.

December 29th, 2011 - 01:45:21

I know it's been quite a while since any noise has been made about Remix Pack 4, but I just wanted to chip in and offer my thanks and congratulations for (re)producing such wonderful music. I burned way too many hours not only playing SC2, but just listening to the MODs I'd ripped out of the game for my own pleasure. Discovering this project some time ago was a very happy moment, and the remixes and other released tracks on this site have had a more-or-less permanent home in my car's CD player. Thanks again, and bravo! And might I presume to add: Encore!

December 21st, 2011 - 16:29:14

Thanks a lot for your work ! I grew up with SC2 and the music of it's universe and now I have been listening to your remixes for quite some time now and it's always a pleasure ! Simply : thank you.

Do you have any project remixing SC3 music ? Indeed, the music was not as magical as in SC2, still, it was something (right now, I am thinking of the ending music with the prologue voice). Lot of potential here !

October 6th, 2011 - 05:37:53

A labour of love is a thing of beauty. Star Control really tapped into that ineffable quality of great story telling. It drew the best from classic Science Fiction and wove them seamlessly into one unforgettable video game - the ultimate interactive story book. It's the great heroic quest into the archetypes of the human psyche - a tribute to the thoughts of Jung's Collective Unconsciousness and Campbell's Universal Myth. It really is the Star Wars of video games, combining an epic story with memorable characters and magnificent music.

To the team at Medieval Future: I hope you realize how deeply you've touched the hearts of so many fans. The remixes really are spectacular and evoke that spine tingling nostalgia with the hope that one day, some way, somehow your talent and that of the game creators will combine to realize THE BEST DAMN ACTION ADVENTURE GAME EVER!

Like all the commentators before me - thanks for sharing your hard work and great talent, it's really quite something.

July 23rd, 2011 - 21:17:09

I just want to thank you for the awesome music you created.
I think it's the best videogame soundtrack ever.
By the way, do you have any flac or high quality version of your work ?
Thank you.

June 29th, 2011 - 09:54:19

Your music turned my vision on the cosmos upside down in a good way. Even if it sounds silly, i thank you. Thank you so very much.

June 12th, 2011 - 17:11:22

Hey, this website is awesome!!! I don't suppose you have or have made any sheet music for these songs? They are quite fantastic, worthy of taking time to learn.

May 29th, 2011 - 08:43:28

That's what this project is, just announcing it. But great job remixing all the songs so far :)

April 23rd, 2011 - 03:47:32

For several years now I have enjoyed the awesome music you guys have made. The work you guys do is great, and I'm so happy that you have made it available to people and continue to maintain this site.

February 27th, 2011 - 05:38:38

Hi Precursors, I just want to let you know that i'm from Argentina and even here a little group is proud of your work and I dare to say that I feel inspired, I feel that everything is possible just with a little of determination.
So, if you keep reading this page I don't want to let you and all this wonderful proyect down.

2011, and still amazing

Adios, Precursores.

January 18th, 2011 - 23:19:37

Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor not a musician! Dammit, Jim, the project's dead! ... Just checking for a pulse folks! Still hoping that this great music project will come to completion soon... what was missing still? I can't remember...

December 26th, 2010 - 17:49:44

I really want to say Thank You Very Much since I've enjoy MOD music since 1994, the year when I play BBS and then Star Control 2 (later), the in-game MOD music really blown me away!

Thanks again!

November 22nd, 2010 - 05:03:32

i didn't know any other way to ask this question, but... does anyone know what the original source are of the samples in the music for the UrQuan Kzer-Zh?? i've used these in music and seen them around, but i would like to locate the origin and acquire higher quality samples. which synth/library do they originate from? if you know, please email me at dysamoria dot accounts at gmail dot com, thanks!

nice to see this project keeping the spirit of Star Control 2's great mood-setting soundtrack alive :-)

These remixes simply blew me away. I have played the game, and I didn't think that any could be improved, but the new versions you have created are far better. Would it be alright to use these in films? Full credit would be given, of course.

June 21st, 2010 - 12:43:56

Hi guys! You have done amazing job with those songs. I know that UQM has been a long project and Precursors as well, but I'm still at least once a week checking these pages out if Alliance's music pack would've come out :)

But hey, it's summer, don't work too hard!

June 9th, 2010 - 05:09:01

These remixes are awesome! Still looking forward to the last couple!

May 29th, 2010 - 10:27:38

Hi hopefully someone will read this one day. I still have star control on my pc haha

April 1st, 2010 - 14:24:55

Great work. I personally like how you remixed Ur-Quan theme, it is so deep, captures all the 'things' they went through and angst of everything. I still like the originals though, probably due to the old-school feel.

And my second fawourite is Ilwrath, i liked the remix, but I do believe it needs more impacting sounds, like the original had. Hope you are putting the same love in the 4th piece of this delicious cake.

March 30th, 2010 - 23:10:40

Have you guys ever heard of "Audiosurf? Your remixes make the best tracks for that game EVER. I was wondering if you could release the bonus songs for download so I could use them in the game. Also I'm very much looking forward to collection 4.

All I can do is cross my fingers but here's hoping.

March 15th, 2010 - 01:32:34

Every once in a while I stumble across Star Control II somewhere on the internet... and each time I'm blown away at how pervasive it is. I mean, come on guys... this game is almost 20 YEARS OLD. Amazing.

Absolutely great work with the music here. I do hope for more!

February 20th, 2010 - 20:34:10

Music from this project is on my daily playlist. Thank you very much! And I hope to hear more from you in the future.

So, not to bitch too much, but I'm still wanting the rest of the Alliance music. Yes, I know, it's free, but I'd really like to see the rest of your re-imaginings of the themes.

January 27th, 2010 - 22:36:26

I don't think the precursors read the feedback page :(
Maybe they wrapped into Quasispace and got stuck there??

I am SOOOO impressed by the work you guys have done!!

I can't even begin to thank you for the work you put in! - As someone who is easily moved by music, the tracklist I have made while playing some of the best space games throughout my life, make it an enjoyable, escapeable, and memorable experience when I unwind from a stressfull day at college. :)

You guys rock, thank you so much!! What a work of art!

This is awesome! I love this music, great job! I like it a lot, and it is quite nostalgic having played quite a bit of Star Control 2 and even the first one.

I like it so much that I want to use it in a video I am making, specifically Hyperspace, for my student job at Lane Community College in Eugene Oregon. The video is a promotional video for our Women's basketball team, who currently have a 72 home game win streak. It will be about 30 seconds or so in length, and will be displayed on our schools youtube page, facebook page and our Lane TV station.

Of course with your permission I would very much like to use this song!

Sincerely Quinton Anderson

Beautiful work! You've done an amazing job at recreating a masterpiece. I hope to hear more soon!

October 21st, 2009 - 16:33:42

Just thank you for such wondeful tracks.

October 19th, 2009 - 08:58:01

Hello, The Precursors Team! Your music is great! Thank you for your creative work.
I'm not the first man asking about the .flac format and the best possible quality ;-)

October 5th, 2009 - 05:03:23

I decked out my mobile phone with a Star Control theme, which meant loading it up with Precursors tracks for listening to. I was playing some of the remixes, and my fiancee says "wow, these are really pretty, let's play these at our wedding!"

So my wedding guests were treated yesterday to songs about giant space caterpillars that want to enslave us all, and impenetrable slave shields, amongst other, more traditional, wedding fare. I'd say that's a job well done, gentlemen. :)

October 3rd, 2009 - 00:09:46

Septimus - the Kohr Ah would need the caffeine to get to the store and get one of those new self-typo-correcting keyboards... Samatra, Sumatra, whatever!

September 23rd, 2009 - 09:44:49

beautiful, beautiful sounds. :) love what you guys are doing. my friends introduced me to starcon2 just last year and i can't stop listening to your music. :) wonderful stuff.

September 18th, 2009 - 21:23:00

It's just a short note, but I wanted to thank you for this. I'm not a massive SC2 fan, though I did play it back when it came out and I do consider it a great game. The reason I'm writing is that I am a huge fan of video game soundtracks and various BGM remixes. These are really ambient and fantastic and I've been listening to them non-stop now since I started downloading them. That's the first time since the Halo I OST came out that I can remember launching into a soundtrack start to finish so thoroughly.

Kudos and thanks again!

I am completely blown away by this project and it's results and as of this moment my eyes are welling up with tears of joy as I listen to the music and reminesce about the 7 months of 1994 that it took me to map out a complete "to do list" that enabled myself and "The Alliance of Free Stars" to destroy the "Samatra"! The fact that someone besides myself even remembers or cares THIS MUCH about my personal favorite video game of all time PROVES that this was the most groundbreaking idea since PONG was unleashed upon the world. Fred Ford, Paul Reiche III, Erol Otus and the rest of their cohorts should take a bow! Collectively you all created a masterpiece that to this day leaves all of us shaking our heads in amazement! The original "Star Control" that appeared at the tail end of the "Sega Genesis"' life was, at it's time of release, the most sophisticated cartridge to ever appear, the only reason I still keep my own trusty 20 year old "Genesis" ready for action, and only a PRECURSOR of what was to come next! No game before this had ever offered the mix of easy-to-play head to head combat offered that was unabashedly ripped straight from the beloved "Atari Space War" and the strategic rotating starmap that was brilliantly concieved by combining "Chess" with "Milton Bradley's Sub Search"! The game mechanics of that version were pure genius and to my memory the first time I ever saw the word "Starbucks" in print! This way of battling for galactic dominance had never been experienced before or after, as they moved forward with "Star Control 2", jettisoning this mode for the new role-playing, exploration based "Ur-Quan Masters" storyline that cobbled "Dungeons and Dragons" together with "Starflight" and making history once again! I bought a "Panasonic 3DO System" at "Good Guys" for 500 DOLLARS in 1994 just to play this game as I still did not own a computer yet! (Again, I keep that machine ready at all times for a melee battle with friends and family!) The years I spent waiting for a new incarnation were unbelieveably long and frustrating. The release of the computer-only "Star Control 3" put a fork in it -it was done! I finally got a computer in 2001 and now 8 years later I find others on the web like me longing for the Ur-Quan to rise once again...perhaps one day before I pass on it will happen.....

July 27th, 2009 - 01:03:26

Hi, your remixes are really awesome. Keep them coming.

BTW, do you plan to release the fourth remix pack in a "near" future?

July 1st, 2009 - 19:43:39

Mishehu: Wasn't it the Sa-Matra? The Sumatra would be either a) an island in western Indonesia, or b) a delicious blend of coffee, also from Indonesia. What would the Kohr-Ah want with either of those, I wonder?

June 21st, 2009 - 18:16:19

What remixes do you need beyond the Syreen one?

May 22nd, 2009 - 20:14:32

What ya'll have for the 4th pack is the longest one yet, at least in total tracks. Why not go ahead and release a 4.0 and have a 4.1 release if/when the Syreen are added?

May 5th, 2009 - 19:11:59

I beg you, release an another track soon. I repeat, I beg you.

April 24th, 2009 - 21:32:21

Out of curiosity, how many songs are still outstanding? The list of additional releases makes it look like Pack 4 is almost complete. Only the Syreen theme sticks out at me as being in progress. Are there any other races that I'm forgetting?

Almost There?
April 18th, 2009 - 06:52:59

I've been following this site sporadically for many years now, always excited when I find new stuff has been put up. I have yet to be disappointed by a single track, good work guys!

How many tracks are left? Syreen I know are missing, but I can't think of any others... Is that it? Please don't leave us one race shy of completion!

April 17th, 2009 - 19:21:32

Hi, I happily join to all the blesses in here and I'd like say I admire your skill and your commitment.

I think that by putting so much of yourselves into the music you put yourselves a very high standard to follow, and that's probably the reason people are starting to nag for the fourth pack release.

Because people have heard your potential comes into full realization they have come to expect the commitment and prowess you all showed thus far, and I know you don't have a date for the release so you prefer not comment about it until you do have one...

However, I don't think it's the right approach here. People are nagging because the music you produce takes them to worlds of wonder in their thoughts - or simply makes them feel really good :)

So all those music packs are a masterpiece, a work of art that people admire. The 4th release would be the final piece of creation, thus completing it and thus (and this is the important stuff) letting all of us to enjoy the whole creation to the fullest.

Maybe you are a little afraid of finishing this project? Finishing the project will do only good - a few sites will update and help spread the newsa nd more will be attracted to UQM.
As long as it is halted it's stuck like the SC2 sequel... I hope finishing the project would start a chain reaction, sequel anyone? :)

Finally, yes I know you are all people and have real lives and careers. I have too - both actually if you didn't think so!
Yet if you decide to put a deadline to finish the project already (don't you get tired of it? :) you can finish it. Emm... yes you can...
Don't be annoyed from the nagging! People do it because they love what you do (and don't worry there wouldn't be any little girls screaming in front of your houses after the project's completion, and if there are just buy some rottweilers, you should have enough RUs by then).

So, now that I'm quite sure I grabbed your attention (and settled down that publicity issue) - what do you say?

April 16th, 2009 - 05:00:34

Hello all.

Been a sorta-kinda lurker since... um... I think about '05?
Anyroad, I LOVE the tunes. Even the ones I do not personally like, are still admittedly awesome music. I was just commenting under 'Kohr-Ah Battle' on an epic idea.
Picture if you will for 'Melee Music'; the basic classic base line, and then one or two treble lines and a simple percussion line along the lines of each ship's Victory Ditty. That way, each battle will be appropriately themed for Spathy vs Pkunk, or Arilou vs Kzer-Za, or what ever.
I personally do no have the programing prowess to pull such a thing off, but is there anyone who does?

April 15th, 2009 - 22:38:26

Random Dave, please send me an email if you'd like to discuss the possibility of using the music for your own projects. We're usually pretty agreeable as long as we're credited and the music isn't used commercially, but any agreement will have to be made between the artist of the individual piece and the person who'd like to use the music.

April 9th, 2009 - 17:58:03

It's been over a year since Yehat remix and the last song before that was like 3-5 years ago (dont rly know and dont care that much). This wait is excruciating.

April 9th, 2009 - 17:39:14

I just wanted to remind the Precursors team that if the music isn't completed soon, the Kohr-Ah will win the doctrinal conflict, take the Sumatra, and start annihilating all of us... Please please please don't let this happen...

April 3rd, 2009 - 20:33:28

We're never gonna see Pack 4 getting finishes are we?

Random Dave
March 30th, 2009 - 07:02:57

What's the license on the music? Sorry, I can't seem to find it anywhere. What's the feelings of the composers for using the music on non-UQM-related projects?

March 28th, 2009 - 07:54:09

I'm happy to say that the music of SC2/UQM with these remix-packs is just amazing. If the graphics and user interface could be updated too it would be a truly fantastic experience. Now, it's absolutely great and enjoyable, but the music is almost too good paired up with the old interface and outdated graphics.

March 5th, 2009 - 17:21:03

Excellent site. Love the music, keep it up.

February 19th, 2009 - 23:33:02

Seriously. It's been over six years. *6* *years*. Please just admit that you're not going to finish this. I'll be back next year to check again.

February 14th, 2009 - 19:43:38

psydev, the reason that Eric Berge's track listing is wrong is because it's generated automatically, and only based on what remixes we've released so far. Since we haven't released anything for Syreen, his MOD isn't listed either. Also, we've released two official Spathi remixes, so his original is listed twice as well. I consider that a minor bug, but probably won't go back and fix it.

Cameron Goble
February 12th, 2009 - 19:05:00

I love every remixed song so far! Truly amazing, so dedicated, it's like having pure liquid love poured straight into my ears. My work laptop plays these to me every so often, and the day just starts going by so much faster. Of I start hallucinating the swirly hyperspace distortions. Either way, the day is much more fun!

Is this site abandoned?
February 7th, 2009 - 14:36:13

Please release the fourth pack, with or without the Syreen it doesn't matter...
Or at least show a sign you're still alive :/

February 6th, 2009 - 22:57:04

this is not for the feedback board, just a site correction:
The composer Eric Berge also wrote the Syreen track for SC2, it's not listed. Instead the Spathi track is listed twice.

I love it! It has taken a long time, people literally have died waiting for this, but for those who are among us, I salute you!

December 29th, 2008 - 06:13:49

"Years late" is the perfect title for the Yehat but I love it. Looking forward to future releases!

December 9th, 2008 - 21:20:01

Boy, it sure would be terrific to get a remix of the Yehat theme at some point! That, along with the Utwig theme, is my favorite in the whole game! Pleeee-ase. :)

December 6th, 2008 - 19:28:55

Hi! Listened to all the remixes this evening. Enjoyed a great deal. Slylandro remix is indeed seamless. I set it to loop and didn't even realise I'd had it running for about ten minutes. Nitpick on site main page. "an impossibly advanced that disappeared tens" (race?)

December 5th, 2008 - 21:39:53

Hi ppl!
What about Remix Pack 4? Will it ever be completed?
And will there be a .flac release of the remixes for those people that want the best possible quality?

November 30th, 2008 - 21:14:32

Great work! The VUX remix is my favorite!

November 26th, 2008 - 22:35:47

WOAH!!! SORRY, Mycon has already been remixed by the same person :) cool.

November 26th, 2008 - 22:29:35

I think it would be cool if you could just "copy" the originals, like using the same samples but just making the tracks "fresh" if you know what I mean. By finding the same instruments but of higher quality. I think you understand.

The begining of the UTWIG track - this would be a good example. Otherwise, well, for me the tracks seem either "bloated" or too much samples have been changed to something else.

Maybe start a new project, you could probably call it "The Search" and make an album with tracks closer to the originals.

I'm saying this because I was dissapointed in the Chmmr and Supox remix (the originals were awesome)and to capture the awesome tunes like Shofixti, Thraddash and Mycon, you would have to do this.

November 15th, 2008 - 22:31:51

Guys, I could just kiss your feet for following through with this project. It has made me extremely happy and nostalgic, and there aren't enough words for saying thank you - I've been waiting for something like this for about 18 years now! :)

October 24th, 2008 - 14:24:11

Extraordinary music.

Rarely has music from a game managed to capture my attention so strongly or for so long.

Your pride in this work is well deserved.

September 29th, 2008 - 14:33:59

This stuff is fantastic.

I know it's horribly 'commercial', but is there any chance of you guys throwing together some SC2 race themed mobile phone ringtones?

September 14th, 2008 - 20:34:33

SC2 - forever! :) You did make great work, guys, take these great respects in exchange. :)
RESPECT!!!!! From russian fan of your works! :)

September 9th, 2008 - 19:17:09

I still keep all these songs on my iPod, and I keep hopin' the next remix pack will come out.

Yehat, Chmmr, Syreen... they're awaitin'!

July 20th, 2008 - 02:42:04

Yehat is here. Sweet!

July 5th, 2008 - 06:53:41

Well I have to say I love the remixes. I found the Ur-Quan Masters while looking around on the net a while back and I have to say that they don't make games like that anymore. I also found another good use for the game, I always load up a savegame of just before teh first meeting with Fwiffo just so I can hear that crazy bugger again.

I'm curious though, will pack 4 contain some Syreen tracks as well?

Great Remixes !!
June 22nd, 2008 - 21:27:10

What an explosively original name huh?
Well it's quite true :)
Waiting gleefully for the fourth remix pack of course!!
(thought that adding a comment to the guest book would help with that :))
Oh I ended two sentences with smileys, shame on me

June 19th, 2008 - 22:22:55

There is a new guitar version of yehat

enjoy ;)

June 16th, 2008 - 03:59:39

Would also be nice to get the Syreen theme :)

June 13th, 2008 - 13:03:35

I'd still be interested to see what their take on the 'lost' races from SC1 wold be like.. The Chenjesu.. a whispery, tinkly crystalline theme.. The MrrmMrrm, ratchets, motors and metallic clanking behind the music.. The Androsynth... Hmm.. politely angry guitar, I'm thinking.

June 7th, 2008 - 13:46:19

Ahh, I forgot the final victory theme. Fortunately I have the old mods around.

June 7th, 2008 - 13:43:42

Yess! I have waited for this! The Yehat remix is very good. Now only the intro song remains, I think (which is one of my favourites). I hope you take some time to finish the project. Good work!

June 7th, 2008 - 00:48:09

Ladies and gentleman.. It's been a long wait.. but the Yehat mix is finaly here. Congratulations, and thank you Precursors.

June 6th, 2008 - 22:24:55

Okay then, the Yehat remix is up. You can find it under "Additional Precursors Releases". Enjoy, and sorry for taking so long, especially since the remix has been ready since last year... :p

June 6th, 2008 - 11:58:31

Wait.. what? YEHAT?!

Woo! *gets out the champagne!*

June 4th, 2008 - 13:42:36

Oh my god... I'm so sorry, I forgot all about verifying feedback on this page. As a result, a lot of comments haven't shown up for over 6 months! I've been going through the old comments now, verifying the real ones and getting rid of the spam.

We actually have released a Yehat remix already, just not on this page. I'm going to rectify that as well.

Thanks for your continued support, everyone! :)

May 24th, 2008 - 02:26:10

Wow, what a great site. Yehat.mod attracted me years ago to SC2. I knew there was something special about SC2, but I didn't realize there was such a following to it.

Keep it up, guys! Even if only to keep the spirit of SC2 alive. Maybe some developer will pick it up in the future.

May 14th, 2008 - 12:11:52

*checks to see if there's any updates*

*waters the houseplants*

May 3rd, 2008 - 05:15:52

I'd totally replay the whole game just to hear where the new remixes kick in! Looking forward to them!

April 19th, 2008 - 13:01:32

People! Thanks a lot! Your tracks reminded me my childhood! Keep it up guys! You are awesome!

April 8th, 2008 - 08:30:05

I have derived far too much enojoyment from your remixes not to thank you.

Thank You all.

April 2nd, 2008 - 04:32:08

Can we please get these in a lossless format? It'd be great to hear the tracks in perfect fidelity!

April 1st, 2008 - 22:37:53

PING! I've been waiting a long time for remix pack 4 to be completed before I play through the game again, but I wonder how long that may be?

Joe Marino
March 17th, 2008 - 03:00:27

Great talent, really enjoy your music. Since I have listened to so much its only fair that I pay yes? Maybe I pay for the 4th release to, around $20 for each release sounds fair, anything to hear it! Thanks

March 10th, 2008 - 12:05:25

Still here.
Still waiting.

February 25th, 2008 - 15:41:36

Ok Jezus Christ Precursors...We all like your songs you've made so far, but do even yourselves have any idea when the last songs are going to be announced? =O
Would be lovely to hear some new stuff for change...

February 19th, 2008 - 23:20:47

Come on guys give us something new!!

Refuse to ditch my 3DO because of SC2
January 15th, 2008 - 07:39:22

Guys, seriously, it's practically an annual tradition for me to pull out my 3DO and replay SC2 everytime I visit my parents. This game ignited my passion for SciFi.

The music helped to set the mood of the game so well. When I heard about this project, I came by and downloaded every track and was seriously surprise by the quality of the remixes. Keep up the good work guys. I am now eagerly awaiting album 4.

András Barják
January 14th, 2008 - 18:48:53

Hi there, I thought I'll try to advertise myself here a little bit. You might know me as Forevian as well. I'm the composer of the Supox, Zoq-Fot-Pik and Pkunk remixes. Just come and check my other works if you like some modern/prog rock music. There you go: http://www.last.fm/music/Barj%C3%A1k+Andr%C3%A1s
Thanks. And I'm awaiting for the Yehat tune as well. ;-)

January 11th, 2008 - 20:42:37

First feedback in 2008.

I love you guys!

January 9th, 2008 - 23:23:43

Just saying that I like to see Juni's an MP3 of Re-Enter remix uploaded here. It's one song I really like to show to others, but it's .OGG format makes that inconvenient.
Although I wouldn't mind a .OGG just so I can put it into the UQM remake.
By the way, keep up the good work, this is some genuinely excellent music.

Jukka Haapakoski
January 7th, 2008 - 22:26:38

This is a true labour of love! Very nice... and free. You might like to try to distribute this via CD..

January 6th, 2008 - 21:27:40

When there are expectations, it's always challenging living up to. Thus, the best way to live up to the hopes of many, is to avoid it.

Keep waxing our faces with comments that the Yehat mix is arriving. I know this is all part of your free time, but its the right thing to do. If you think that Yehat doesn't need a refreshment, remastering or remixing, just say so.

Ghost Bear
January 2nd, 2008 - 01:52:46

Outstanding! Half of track from here already in my mobile telephone and in a player.

December 28th, 2007 - 17:34:31

Nice stuff!!!
Just a quick question.. do you guys listen to kraftwerk, vangelis or jarre?

December 22nd, 2007 - 19:40:16

Thank you so much for these..! Absolutely amazing work.

December 22nd, 2007 - 00:41:47

I know you guys have been busy lately and such. I'd just like to let you know that you still have eager fans waiting for more musical gems. Please finish the last remaining songs as soon as humanely possible. Thanks. :)

December 21st, 2007 - 14:31:12

Thank you guys so much for all your wonderful effort. The first time i saw this game i did not ever want to stop playing. You are giving it new life.

December 21st, 2007 - 10:03:57

Thank you for what you are doing. Please don't stop. You guys are amazing at doing SC2 music. I would gladly pay you if I knew how.

Dan Silsby
December 19th, 2007 - 02:14:53

Love the remixed tracks. I have re-encoded them to a lower rate and made them available for download for users of my port of UQM to the GP2X handheld. So far, hundreds have downloaded my own pack just in the first week. Obviously, people are interested in your project! Thank you. (Senor Quack)

December 14th, 2007 - 08:29:44

I love you guys!

December 12th, 2007 - 14:21:33

PLEASE I want more.
I have been waiting a lot...

I would pay for another remix of hyperspace, I would pay for yehat....

December 5th, 2007 - 00:50:27

I wouldn't mind pitching a bit of cash if it'll help grease the wheels a bit...

December 5th, 2007 - 00:20:58

Precursors, I want to let you know that I am at work, typing away on a powerpoint presentation and listening to some tracks... when Starbase: Under A Red Sky comes on. I get a sudden rush of energy, enthusiasm and become more productive. Awesome remixes.

Patiently awaiting the Yehat remix,

Dave Littler
December 3rd, 2007 - 22:58:53

I'd been thinking of attempting to pay for some further releases for some time, myself. I'm by no means a rich man, but I'd be willing to pitch in $100 or so; I feel that, in terms of what's already been created and in terms of how much I want those last few songs, it's worth it.

November 17th, 2007 - 09:42:30

Dear Precursors! We didn't forget you and still wait patiently :) Just hope you don't forget 'about your fans as well and finish the project at some time ;)

November 14th, 2007 - 05:10:15

Like everyone else here I've been playing Star Control II over and over again for years waiting for something new. The music has been one of the best features of the game and what I've heard here is incredible. I just found out about this site and I'm checking all the tunes out... love the Hyperspace remix. Excellent work and thanks for the hard work! Later human liquid sacs!

November 14th, 2007 - 04:41:47

This is amazing! What a great work! This is not only for those who enjoy Star Control.
This kind of music reaches a level far beyond. It can reach any one that enjoys good music.
I am also amazed with the Star control community. Intelligent people enjoying good SciFi and well conceived games. I just hope that the Star Control saga will continue.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this project.

Ursus Rex
November 12th, 2007 - 00:03:26

Okay, I am done waiting. Perhaps this deal can be somehow sweetened.

List a paypal account. I will _pay_ for the rest of the remixes. I am sure others will too, at a multiple of a standard album price point.

I encourage all others on the message board to additionally signify assent.

November 7th, 2007 - 14:50:43

I love your music, and can't wait for the next release!
Great work!

October 16th, 2007 - 06:49:47

I absolutely LOVE these remixes. They have powerful emotion behind them, and offer a great background for The Ur-Quan Masters.

Thank you very much!

October 14th, 2007 - 09:21:19

First of all, thanks for all the kind comments. Second, I apologize for not getting around to verifying the comments that have been submitted recently. I reinstalled Windows and forgot to install the database application.

I wouldn't say the Precursors project is dead. It's just in a kind of stasis right now. Almost all the remixes from pack 4 have been released already on an individual basis, and can be downloaded from this site right now. We just need to finish up a couple of remixes before the 4th pack can be considered finished, but there are too many real-life obligations for that to happen at the moment.

Just writing something to let you know we still love you guys, and are patient.

I downloaded all your tracks a while back, and I am continually impressed with how much I enjoy your remixes, especially the Spathi ones (the latter is probably a sign of my dementia). Hope you have time to make some more!

October 2nd, 2007 - 19:47:37

It has been a year since I last posted here, and still nothing new. I got the comprehension that you have other business to attend to, but how long does it take to get the last remixes?

Even that the release of remix package #4 is in the distant future, please post some comment to keep site alive and kicking, *pretty please*? =)

Would be nice to hear Syreen remixes soon =P

September 18th, 2007 - 01:18:35

Hi guys, love the site. I check back every now and then to see if there has been any new uploads. Just curious if there is a tentative TBA on remix pack 4?

September 17th, 2007 - 13:22:13

Hi Precursors! :-)
I've found this site and your remixes. It sounds great, but I'm looking forward to release of your 4th remix pack. May I ask you when would be my wish filled and I'll hear next good songs? Thanks :-)

I love you people. Thanks for all free work you have done. Very good quality to boot!

At the risk of sounding like an optimist... is there any chance this project will continue?

August 31st, 2007 - 07:16:46

Seeing how the first three packs were released quite quickly maybe I was spoiled and therefore it seems like torture to wait for the fourth pack? Where do I send the large money order for it to be finished? :) I bet if you charge $10 or $15 dollars for a CD it will be downloaded by 1000's eager and loyal fans who are ready to pay for your genius!

Love the music so far, waiting 3 years for 4th release, still on the way? Keep up the great work!

August 27th, 2007 - 15:04:32

Hey Precursors, wassup?

I've been listening to your music a lot lately. It's still super awesome. How're the last Star Control tracks doing? Have you guys been writing any other stuff lately?

August 27th, 2007 - 13:08:27

I'm starting to get the feeling that this project was abandonded 1 year ago... =P

What a treasure trove. My sincere thanks to everybody associated with this project -- this takes me back to a very happy video gaming experience.

News wouldn't really be news if we could alert you about them first, would they?

Taalo Ambassador, we aren't using a free service to host this site. We're using a paid service in Norway. Having said that, it's not expensive at all. Look around for cheap offers where you live.

Steer well clear of free hosts for stuff like this. They don't appreciate sites that generate a lot of traffic (this site generates about 2 GB traffic per day).

July 16th, 2007 - 20:01:58

Hey guys. I love the work y'all have done, and I'm really anxious to hear a Yehat remix and the full version of that depressing Syreen remix (You thought noone caught that, didn't you? :p ) But that's not the point of this post. In fact, I don't want y'all to post this. I've started my own project to rerecord and process the entirety of the voice-overs. I'm calling it the Taalo Project (not in anyways to steal the method that you used to come up with your name), but I was wondering how I could get a free site set up for my packages like what y'all have here. Thanks. My e-mail is in the post, obviously, but my screen name on the UQM forum is Davey Yungblud, and my YIM screen name is The_Ghoulish_Bounty_Hunter. Thanks again ^-^

July 16th, 2007 - 03:13:58

But when will you have any news then?

July 13th, 2007 - 09:37:33

Regardless of the aural quality, conformity to the originals, or any other fragmenting criteria, let me just say simply:
Truly, I have been looking for the original tracks for some time now (since I played SCII on the 3DO), and to find this, instead, was so exciting and amazing. So, again, to all those involved in the remixes, as well as this website,

July 13th, 2007 - 02:07:36

Hey, just wanted to say you guyses have done a fine job here. I love what you've done with the SC2 remixes (not very confidentially, I'd be fairly tempted to *buy* the albums if you had been selling them). So I hope you keep up the good work.

July 8th, 2007 - 15:35:46

Best of the remixes, in my opinion.

There's no need to write status reports when there's nothing to report, don't you think? :p

June 12th, 2007 - 00:40:28

Is there a status report? Thanks, Precursors! You guys rock, but, seriously - what's going on?

May 21st, 2007 - 10:55:53

Did anyone else listen to the "taheY - the teaser (boys are boys mix)", written in response to several requests for a Yehat remix? Absolutely hilarious.

Maybe that's also the beginning of the Syreen remix. :-)

Juffo-Wup is All!
April 30th, 2007 - 07:49:10

I think the unofficial Yehat remix is too smooth, when you think Yehat scream "THE REVULOTION HAS BEGUN"!, I think that you should still play the original Yehat melody in the 1st 40 seconds of the song, then it would be perfect, and some bass drum in the song would be nice too :)

Keep up the good work, boyz!

April 24th, 2007 - 21:58:01

I've been playing the "unofficial" Yehat song repeatedly on my computer and MP3 player, so I think it's safe to say that I love it as a song. The melody is faithful to the original song and nicely captures some of the inner struggles that the Yehat have within themselves (Shofixti vs. loyalty to the Queen). Written in the context of an in-game song that is looped repeatedly, I think there is too much of a "difference" between the song ending and intro that wasn't as pronounced in the original Yehat song. Perhaps calm the song ending down a little more to match it with the intro, speed up the intro a little more to match it with the ending, keep the intro as is but shorten it, or keep the ending as is but shorten it. Either one of these four might make the song a little more ideal as a loopback song in the game.

April 22nd, 2007 - 22:20:09

Well... the Yehat remix of that link seems good... but something's missing. I hope to hear soon the Precursors version.

April 18th, 2007 - 21:22:32

So...this Yehat song wasn't actually composed by Riku? Or is it just not being endorsed as an official Precursors release? It's not bad by any means....

April 18th, 2007 - 10:02:17

I have to agree... the posted song doesn't sound very fitting for the yehat... i hope the precursors will release a more fitting mix

April 17th, 2007 - 12:15:21

For the record, the Precursors haven't released any Yehat remixes yet.

April 16th, 2007 - 21:31:01

Errr. I guess I should be happy that the project is getting somewhere again but all this waiting and this is what the Yehat track sounds like? Yes, there have been both great songs and somewhat disappointing songs before, but this is definitely a major miss: an unnecessary lead-in that lasts 1:30, a generic dance beat and excessive ambiance/chorus backgrounds. Technically it's a nicely done song but I think it's not fitting at all for the Yehat.

April 16th, 2007 - 09:41:29

And there wa smuch rejoicing!

Heh.. I like how it's listed as 'Years Late Remix'

April 14th, 2007 - 23:27:20

FYI; Yehat is finally remixed. Check out Riku's and Harri's (he composed "Credits" with Riku) new "TÄDÄÄ" project at www.mikseri.net/tadaa while we are waiting Tilt to upload song here !

- Riku

April 12th, 2007 - 22:15:41

It has been a long time since the most recent remix was released, and a few tunes (most notably the Yehat) are still missing. Do you have plans to complete the project?

April 10th, 2007 - 02:52:39

I agree. I would love to hear a new song especially the Syreen theme, but I know it must take everyone awhile and I know I appreciate you making these and then sharing them with everyone.
Good luck!

April 6th, 2007 - 22:50:36

Is this ever going to get finished? Its been 3 years.

April 1st, 2007 - 10:00:20

Any chance of a Syreen remix

March 28th, 2007 - 01:57:04

I'd like to talk about something completely different, yet still related. A new game is coming out in October by the 'Sims' people. It is called 'Spore'. In a nutshell, you start the game as a microbe in a primordial tide pool, and finish (if you care to ever stop) as a Star Fairing race. How could this possibly be related to good ol' Star Con you ask? Simple; because the creature editor (and I *think* the vehicle editor as well) is nearly limitless in what you can create, one could conceivably create the Star Con universe! You could make the Spathi, the Ur-Quan (both of them!), the Ilwrath, the VUX. The Umga I'm not too sure about, and a few others come ta think of it, but you *could* make most of them. So, my fellow Alliance Of Free Stars members, and my good Battle Thrall neighbors, how cool will THAT be?

March 11th, 2007 - 16:30:01

hi, i did a remix of the starbase commander theme a year or more ago, and i stumbled upon this site couple of days ago. if you're interested, i can send it to you.

greetings and salutations.

Listening Riku's "Turning Purple" right now.

March 8th, 2007 - 00:23:59

Awesome, awesome work so far. I kinda disagreed with the new Arilou theme at first, but I think it's grown on me some.

March 2nd, 2007 - 05:52:10

So far, I'm loving all this, but any word on when any Yehat remix is coming out? Well, whatever's next, I can't wait!

Runnin' Dogg
February 26th, 2007 - 05:35:03

I certainly hope Jouni would be gracious enough to gift us with a couple of spacesynth remixes of the Arilou and Yehat themes... Whatever he calls himself, he is in my opinion the possessor of godlike skills in the realm of spacesynth...

February 21st, 2007 - 22:24:13

Nicely done and thanks!

I remember once wishing for the SC2 music to be just a tidy bit more attractive... After reviewing both the 3d0 versions and the remixes, I can honestly say I repetetively play the game for your music alone!
You guys are awesome! I, myself, am an electronic musician with (currently) no tools besides my computer, I really like your works and you're welcome to update me on other projects you're working on. I'll gladly spread word of your tunes too!
Thank you for the music (Abba fan ;),

I like the music. It's very good quality, but it seems like it lacks the unique quality the origional renditions did. All the the tracks sound similar, though the individual themes are very different.

February 16th, 2007 - 23:09:44

Hi I'm Drizzt, and would support having some sort of eta on when the next release is coming out (or at least a preview of the next release). That way we will all have something to bitch about when it fails to make it on time.

February 15th, 2007 - 00:53:36

I must say that you've done a wonderful work remixing the old tunes. They add a "don't know exactly what it is" to the game, and I especially love Orz and Zoq-Fot-Pix themes.

May all your quest end as perfect as this one.

(Sorry, I don't speak english well)

February 14th, 2007 - 10:50:42

Dear Tilt,
As a long time fan of Starcontrol and your remix music, I want to thank you and your team for your efforts over the last year.
We understand that you must feel the pressure to get the Yehat track finalized and compounding this would be the knowledge that it is traditionally the fans favorite.
But I want you to know that we are all behind you and there is NO pressure to finalize your work before it is ready.
_None_ of us want rushed art. Despite what some of us may believe.
Take it easy, and keep up the good work =0)

February 11th, 2007 - 04:38:55

Thanks for the great music everyone. I can't wait to play the SC2 conversion! I really enjoyed "Battle of Sa-Matra", "Pkunk" and many other remixes. One problem: either it was the name length, or all the umlauts, but my mp3 program totally freaked out when trying to load the tracks' artist tags. I just used mp3tag to change them and they read fine.

February 9th, 2007 - 22:55:31

Just a thought, after listening to the Kohr-Ah Battle remix posted in Additional Releases: specific battle themes for each enemy you fight would be *spectacular*. A ton of work, I realize, but the payoff would be incredible.

Keep up the good work, folks. I look forward to your third remix pack.

February 8th, 2007 - 00:54:52

Hey Tilt sence everyone seems to be saying some not so nice things.. I thought i would add a few nicer notes for you and the other guys.. so far all the music released by The Precursors up to now has been the best.. professional.. and well done... and very fitting to the game in general and the fact that you do it because you choose to, is also amazing...

I say you keep working at your doing.. no previews and no spoilers... And keep up your good work... it will make the next release you have bigger and better then your previous 3...

Hey yall got any t-shirts or something with your Logo on it <.< Because I would so buy one

That's all XD.. Good Luck Captain...

February 6th, 2007 - 07:32:01

That's not how composing music works. At the point where a piece of music is ready for previewing, the hard part is over and the rest is a cakewalk, which means we would rather release the full track. So no, there won't be any previews.

February 5th, 2007 - 21:59:37

when we gonna get the next volume we have a new patch so why no new music.
this game rocks i found it by acsident but what a descuvery.

TiLT, i agree that no one should say that nothing has been released since then, but it would be real cool to hear some previews from the incoming songs xD If you could post them to this page, we would like to hear them :D

January 28th, 2007 - 16:26:34

Would it be possible to get at least some kind of preview on the newest tracks? Or how about a time estimate for the next release?

January 27th, 2007 - 01:14:12

grubba brug brug, before making statements like that, at least get your facts right. The Precursors released almost a whole remix pack's worth of tracks in early 2006. The fact that nothing has been released since doesn't mean that we are defunct, as we have stated a large number of times on this very page.

January 26th, 2007 - 21:50:04

I know there not in the game, but I would like to see some Androsynth music

January 26th, 2007 - 21:46:05

"What the heck is decoder, Drizzt? I'd sure like to know :D"

Google FTW! ^_^

Winamp is your best bet. I used the "filewriter output plugin" (google for that too). I believe that I also needed a .mod input plugin so winamp would be able read the music in the first place.

grubba brug brug
January 26th, 2007 - 04:51:17

It would appear that the precursors are defunct - the remixes were done on a regular basis from 2003 - 2004 (mid), then suddenly stopped.

It has been three years now, so from 2000 to 2003.
Granted, the music is great, but try not to get your hopes up :)

Yes; all you have to do is convert them to the native .mod sound format first using a decoder.

I'm working on a Yehat remix. Although it'll take a while. This site seems slow in doing theirs so I thought why not. It'll be my firs full-length work on FruityLoops but as a massive fan of the game I won't stop until I think it feels right.

January 1st, 2007 - 15:24:33

Yes, you can replace any of the remixes by opening the remix packages in a zip application (like WinRAR, for example) and manually replacing the files in there. Keep in mind that the files you want to add must have the same filename as the original remix in the package.

Is there a way of swapping the current Hyper-and-Quasipace themes for the newer ones? I can't stand the versions the remix pack has (Across the Galaxy / Through the Angles of Space), Lightyears Away and Mystic Shadows are 10 times better...

December 27th, 2006 - 14:29:43

Gotta say I love your work. The music for SC2 might be one of the best gamemusics ever.

I also like that the team is scandinavian, I'm a norwegian myself ;)

December 20th, 2006 - 10:51:03

I think too "intro" could be avesome. If u can make it, then just make it :D. Those other ideas r good also, i mean the "missing races" stuff. More pieces, More fun.

None whatsoever. Why would I lie about this?

December 5th, 2006 - 05:51:39

Hello, I just wanted to say that I believe in you tilt. I believe in you!

December 1st, 2006 - 08:59:16

November 29th, 2006 - 15:40:35

Awww.. no Yehat theme this year... Now Christmas will suck.. :P Just kidding.

November 28th, 2006 - 08:42:53

Thanks for all the nice feedback folks!

Our prolonged silence is caused by there being no changes to the situation as described in several posts further down on this page. When the situation changes and we are ready to get back to finishing the last few tracks, we'll tell you. Until then, enjoy the almost complete remix set that we've already released.

And no, we're not dead and we're not abandoning this page just because we don't post a lot. I go through feedback on a daily basis in order to sort out spam from real posts and make sure your feedback actually gets posted.

Wow! What a cool site-the music goes beyond awesome! Suggestion; check out the BBC show Red Dwarf for some inspiration-apparently, the successful Sci-Fi stuff always has a bit of comedy relief. Just a thought because, I love what you've done so far-keep up the good work.

November 26th, 2006 - 13:16:26

Wow! I've just read some of this feedback. I was going to ask why hasn't there been a Yeehat Remix done? It's probably the best Alien Theme Song ever in Star Control 2. I think Thraddash is the second best from what I recall. How about adding the original MOD files into your download section as well as WAV and OGG version of those MODs?

November 24th, 2006 - 14:57:57

It has to be the greatest theme in the entire game without contest. A remix of that would be nigh-on orgasmic.

Why moan at you when what you have done so far (and no doubt the massive effort and time) is truly remarkable?

You're all happy campers! So much more fun than dancing...

October 23rd, 2006 - 19:52:25

Hey! What's the matter with you guys? Almost one year and we don't have any new remixes... C'mon, guys! Don't keep us waiting for too long and give some answer soon, and if it comes with a new remix, better then!

October 20th, 2006 - 15:48:15

Absolutely great project!
Keep up the good work.

October 15th, 2006 - 13:11:54

Ok... I've checked this site once a week for last hmm...year,and I haven't seen a change in whole site. Are you guys mixing anymore music, or this site "dead"? Answer soon, thank you.

P.S The yehat remix have been waited over a year...

October 5th, 2006 - 16:05:04

Great remixes, well done! But where are the remaining songs? Yehat theme, Final Victory theme, the intro etc. New songs haven't been added for months.

October 5th, 2006 - 00:20:06

This is great! Thank you. Yehat would be great :)

October 4th, 2006 - 20:53:54

I love your remixes!!! Long live Star Control!!!

October 3rd, 2006 - 23:18:15

Some Yehat and Androsynth music would be good - is the best source material apart from hyperspace and qspace so should be awesome...

September 23rd, 2006 - 23:45:29

Yehat, please! =)

September 21st, 2006 - 22:34:20

Gentlemen! The music is, of course, awesome. But where is our Yehat theme? The people have spoken! Please, don't keep us dangling in anticipation for another whole year! I submit to you, the time for the Yehat theme has come! And many thanks for the excellent music already released.

September 15th, 2006 - 19:34:58

I did't think it was possible but you improved on the Hyperspace tune. Which was already in my top 10.
Thanks, I really do appreciate that, even all this time after the game has be successed by arguably better graphics and replayablity, you are still support proberly the best underdog ever.

September 8th, 2006 - 23:51:00

Great stuff, love it, love the game, brings back great memories. Could you add an RSS feed so that we know when things get updated?

September 1st, 2006 - 07:42:50

Thanks so much for the effort put into these remixes they are awesome!!!!

cant wait for more songs to come!

August 30th, 2006 - 15:24:44

Hey, You guys are doing very fine stuff!
Great compilation for my player!

August 26th, 2006 - 15:09:49

You really rule!!!

How about a new remix og hyperspace song??? I think every music in the world should be forced to create one.

Thank you for this great music!!

August 24th, 2006 - 01:38:20

Wait! A spirit voice rings within my soul!
It tells me that I must give you something.
What, spirit? What must we give this young creature?
The Yehat theme?... no. The fourth remix pack?... no. A Fourth Star Control game?... no.
Then what IS it spirit, spit it out!
I know, we'll give you what you truly want!
We shall give you what all others could not! The greatest of gifts! We shall give you our love!

Thanx for all the effort you guys put in for all the
arcade lovers :)

August 19th, 2006 - 06:54:35

Hi, Im a regular here, and just wanted to say that I don't care how soon until the next release comes out. I figure that the longer you have to work on a particular tune, the better it will be when it is finally released.
If this is true, then the yehat theme will be the best remix evar! :-)

August 16th, 2006 - 22:40:26

OK... I'll not ask anymore for the Yehat theme, but can you please upload any other mixes?... at least to keep this site active.

August 15th, 2006 - 01:13:17

Permanently part of my playlist, thanks a bunch for all your hard work!

August 3rd, 2006 - 07:25:34

Just one of the many fans who appreciate what you're doing and love your work.
Can't wait for the next release!

August 1st, 2006 - 19:14:20

Is there any possiblity that you will remake the very first song in the game? The one that plays in the background as the initial story of the game is being told?
That happens to be one of my favorites, and it seems to have slipped by ya. ;)

Anyhow, great work soo far.
Take it easy.

July 24th, 2006 - 20:21:29

This goes for Juffo... There is a page called "galbadia hotel" where you can download in a playable version the original music for SC2. the site is http://gh.ffshrine.org just search the mp3 menu, the S section and there they are.

July 23rd, 2006 - 03:13:23

I humbly submit my heartfelt thanks for all the work you are doing. This is nostalgia in a can. I love it.

Thanks, and very, very much looking forward to the Yehat mix,

Great music, boys keep it up!
Where could I dowload original musics in MP3-form, coz Windows Media player doesnt play .ogg or .ditty files? Tell me plz

July 21st, 2006 - 00:22:32

Hi, ive been here a couple times before, and was just wondering if any of you could give us some sorta eta on the rest of the remixes and/or the infamous yehat theme?

And whats left to release?

July 20th, 2006 - 14:29:29

Hey! Have u discovered there is two "Hyper.mod"s but no sign about "yehat.mod"! So i must got that from Gooooooooogle. Ur page bugs but ur music don't!

July 18th, 2006 - 21:12:07

Great music, great game. It's is good idea to release already songs you've made for pack 4. Jouni and Riku Rock! Keep up the good work.

P.S : When the Syreen theme is gonna show up? Can't wait to hear that one :D

July 14th, 2006 - 12:33:52

Well... I have waited the yehat tune about year and now I WANT IT! Plz plz do it! P.s. U're *Happy Campers*!

July 14th, 2006 - 08:08:29

Almost all of Remix Pack 4 has already been released and can be downloaded from this site. Look at the Download Music page, under Additional Precursors Releases. If you want the OGG-files for use in the game, head over to sc2.sourceforge.net and read the front page news.

The original music is available from this site, but won't play with Media Player since it doesn't support MOD-files. I recommend WinAmp if you're on a Windows PC. To download the files without having your browser automatically play them, right click the file link and choose Save Target As.

July 13th, 2006 - 15:42:00

Great remixes! I wish the remix pack 4 would appear soon... Anyways where could i download the original songs, i tried downloading the FIGHT.MOD file but Windows Media Player couldn't play it, i wonder why. Anyone knows?

July 12th, 2006 - 21:27:30

These remixes are great (especially in-game) but when that remixpack 4 is going to show up, i wanna more remix songs to my mp3-player... :D

July 9th, 2006 - 13:12:46

Fantastic music for a fantastic game! Let's not worry about waiting for 1 more yehat mix or whatever though, everyone should click the link to Ur-Quan masters and sign the Star Control 3 petition! Toys for Bob you are amazing and we (I) NEED another SC3! LOL

July 6th, 2006 - 07:55:49

You guys make me wanna cry, i grew up with this game. I love your remixes, wish you could do more.

Keep up the awesome job guys.

July 5th, 2006 - 06:38:09

Jedi pretty much summed up the situation in his post.

July 4th, 2006 - 21:15:08

There hasn't been much said, but to help out the new ones...

I have yet to find out the reasons on the delay of music, but they stopped the weekly progressions and I quote:
"March 10th, 2006 - 22:51:12:
I just wanted to say that we probably won't be able to deliver the remaining remixes on a weekly basis. Some of the remaining ones need additional polish and development, and other releases are being slowed down by technical problems.
From this point on, we'll release the remaining remixes separately as soon as they are ready. Hopefully it won't take long."

There has been minor changes including the "GUESTBOOK -> FEEDBACK" which only means that they are still around and working on things on their spare time.

Also, it appears that there were some server/hosting problems, but I believe they have fixed that.

For the release of anything new, there has been no messages or posts. We can only wait...

For any additional future information, they will post on the UrQuan Masters Website which can be found on the Links Tab.

June 30th, 2006 - 19:08:31

Hi, im sorta new here, but does anyone know why there havent been any new releases in the past months? Wasnt it supposed to be weekly?

June 29th, 2006 - 18:40:23

Dear Precursors,

Any word on when the last few songs will become available?

June 27th, 2006 - 00:00:00

Wow... thank you for bringing back the good old memories. My favorite is the Quasispace Through the angles of space. Wow!!!

June 25th, 2006 - 04:06:06

I have played and beaten SC2:The Urquan Masters sooo many times, just an awsesome game with great replay value. I known of this site and the great music on it for awhile but am just signing now for the first time. Keep up the AWESOME work and hope to hear a great Yehat (my fav race/ship) remix soon!

June 7th, 2006 - 19:37:57

When I played UQM for the first time, I immediately noticed that the music was EXCELLENT. I listened to it day and night, and I still do. When I found your site, I immediately started downloading everything. It's great music, both the original modules and these mp3s. Excellent, precursors! *Enjoy the sauce*!

June 2nd, 2006 - 19:30:09

It hasn't been released yet. We're all looking forward to it, though :)

*nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink*

June 1st, 2006 - 06:22:53

Hi im new here.
Can anyone tell me where the yehat theme is or, has it not been relaesed yet???

May 26th, 2006 - 13:17:55

I really enjoyed the *Squeezing* the *Juice* but WHAT'A F*CK U HAVE DONE TO THE "Lightyers away"?
That RLY sonds like Fruity Loops...
...Not for bad but i think ur music can be better if ua play and don't get urself mad with FX:s.
U r still the best.

May 26th, 2006 - 01:14:09

I never played the original game, but I loved the Ur-Quan Masters...especially its music. These tracks are so good, they appeal to a newbie like me as well as all the old codgers who heard all the original tracks and want a piece of nostalgia.

In short, you guys rock.

May 19th, 2006 - 14:25:20

I finally (Löl)got those remix4 soundtracks, i'm so pleased...
But where is Yeahat?
Keep going.

May 17th, 2006 - 13:44:02

Where u find those sounds & voices?
i'd like to know. Anyway, i say T.A and Espen are best, Under a Red Sky is a most fantastic thing i have ever heard (i don't lie much), but Jouni and Riku are good also. I listened those old mods at yeserday and i was surprised when i noticed The Culture 19 is composed by Riku! Ha! Genetic Modification is teh *Lollo*, Including all those nice voices and FX:s. Airaksinen is a *Fine* mixer. WAHWAH MORG WTF LOL OMG JEE ROX SUX PWNS JOO!

May 17th, 2006 - 08:06:41

The best music from the best game of all time! Thanks guys!

May 13th, 2006 - 05:15:51

Are you saving the best for last, and by the best I mean the Yehat ?

May 12th, 2006 - 09:44:40

nice to see this place up again!!

May 12th, 2006 - 03:51:23

Phew! I thought that the site was shut definitively...
Well, due that everyone is making their own ranking of themes,I will do it too.

My favorite remixes are:

1)Shake Yer Rootz
2)Culture 19
3)Turning Purple
4)Fwiffo's StarRunner
5)Now and Forever

May 11th, 2006 - 21:45:36

We caved in and got ourselves a proper hosting solution. I've been uploading and restoring the site today. If you encounter any problems, drop me a mail so I can fix them.

May 3rd, 2006 - 21:41:24

Just wanted to give you all a heads-up: This site is going down tomorrow (Thursday) and will remain down for an unknown period of time. This is completely out of our control, and we'll be doing our best to bring it back up again.

For the moment, if there's anything you still need to download from here, do it before we shut down the server.

Thank you for your patience.

May 2nd, 2006 - 03:48:07

OK. I signed the petition. I hope it works.

April 24th, 2006 - 11:22:05

I can second that!

On the Starcontrol remake page (you find a link on the Links page) you find a new link, called petition. Read the news for the wohle stort, the short one is: If many ppl sign the petition, we get a real SC3.

April 19th, 2006 - 11:38:12

This looked like a rumor worth checking out:

3w dot gamespot dot com slash pages slash news slash show_blog_entry dot php?topic_id=24521940

(sorry for the messy url)

In short: Toys For Bob could do a sequel to the Star Control series, if they get enough fanmail to prove that support still exists. Mail to alexness(AT)toysforbob dot com if you want to express your support.

April 11th, 2006 - 04:03:17

I still need my Yehat :(, Good luck in the future though, I hope a true sequel comes out, when Toys For Bob get the rights back again...

Now, time to *enjoy the sauce.*

April 4th, 2006 - 00:51:01

You guys need to submit some of your stuff to Magnatune. You would get more exposure and a bit of cash.

Keep up the good work!

April 2nd, 2006 - 06:49:36

nice april fools joke, guys! *lol*

April 1st, 2006 - 21:51:38

OMG where? Where? Why am I always the last to know?

April 1st, 2006 - 21:04:25

The Yehat theme is up! Woohoo! Gotta love the bit with the tympani drums in the middle!

March 30th, 2006 - 18:09:46

Guys, guys, don't say the Y word! (You know the one, the track you're all foaming at the mouth for... heh) We mustn't pressure the artists while they are at work, they must be allowed to create in peace...

Hope things are going well for them...

March 30th, 2006 - 00:12:43

What a great way to pay tribute to one of the best games ever! I would point out music as the most outstanding element of the amalgam that made for such gaming magic, but it would be unfair to the story, graphics, gameplay, humor and atmosphere of the game. Still, music is the one part that those unlucky enough to have lived through the Star Control experience can still enjoy. And man, are you guys doing a great job at bringing it back to life!

The Yehat theme of the original is in my eternal hall of fame of the great Tracker years, along with Skaven/PM's 2nd Reality theme and Hellraiser's Atlantis. Riku, you rock!

I don't imagine you'll let anyone but you touch the Yehat theme, and I guess you'll put the cherry on the pie last, but if that's what it takes to meet and surpass our expectations, be it.

March 29th, 2006 - 13:20:11

Another race theme missing is the Syreen one, that might make a good jazz remix.

Favourite Remixes are:

1.)Culture 19
2.)Ultra-Gross (tied with) Welcome to Falayalaralfali
3.)Shake your Rootz (tied with) Lightyears Away
4.)Pkunk Not Dead (tied with) Property of the Crimson Corporation

March 28th, 2006 - 23:56:27

If I had to make a choice of the 5 best remixes put out thus far, the list would be:
1)Starbase-Under a red sky
2)Vux-Ultra Gross!
3)Thraddash-Culture 19
4)Melnorme-Turning Purple
5)Slylandro Probes-We Come In Peace!
These are just my top 5. Others will most likely disagree, as well they should for not all tastes are alike! What are yours?

March 28th, 2006 - 20:48:00

That Traddash - culture 19 remix is one of the best, if not the best piece of game music i ever heard. If somebody would ask me wich SC2 songs are the best ones i'd have answered: Yehat, Traddash, Druuge, Hyperspace - in that order. I am not so sure anymore. Still i fear i have to line up with all those people requesting a Yehat remix... heh.

March 25th, 2006 - 20:33:11

Warmest greets from Russia and thanks for the superb music! I don't feel a nostalgy to Starcon (which is bad feeling in general), but something brand new and fresh listening music you have made. Precursors rule! :-)

March 24th, 2006 - 21:51:57

love the music, but your missing one of my faviourite tracks, the Yehat! Damn that needs such a good rock cover...

March 22nd, 2006 - 18:56:13

another fan loves this game more than anyother
cheers, lets hope for new and good ones

March 21st, 2006 - 10:34:05

Is that rumor never going to die? Star Control 4 was cancelled 8 years ago. That's right, eight!

And no, we're not composing music for nonexisting games. :)

March 21st, 2006 - 00:24:21

Great music guys. Heard a rumor of Star Control IV by Toys For Bob. Are you guys doing the music?

The Komrade
March 20th, 2006 - 23:32:20

The music is superb! It sounds great with or without the game. I continue to be impressed by your talents with each successive release!

March 18th, 2006 - 09:08:27

As already addressed more than four years ago (see fourth guest book entry):

You guys are delivering really awesome music!!! Your Orz Remix is a blast!!!! I love it ... and almost all of the other remixes!

... still looking forward to the Yehat-Remix ;-)

Take Good Care Guys!

March 11th, 2006 - 08:48:27

I just wanted to say what a fantastic job you guys have been doing. Please take your time on the music and release it when you feel it is "done". We appreciate everything you do!

March 10th, 2006 - 22:51:12

As I pointed out on the UQM forum earlier today:

I just wanted to say that we probably won't be able to deliver the remaining remixes on a weekly basis. Some of the remaining ones need additional polish and development, and other releases are being slowed down by technical problems.

From this point on, we'll release the remaining remixes separately as soon as they are ready. Hopefully it won't take long.

Sweeeet. Simply loved StarCon 2 back in the day, and loved it again from time to time thereafter.

The lack of Yehat remixes makes me a bit sad though.. :(

March 4th, 2006 - 11:37:55

Looks like they haven't forgotten...

March 3rd, 2006 - 23:48:03

A new remix has been released.

March 1st, 2006 - 22:54:00

This last two remixes are very good, specially the Hyperspace track... Frankly, the first remix wasn't so loyal to the original, but the second is awesome. Don't forget the Yehat and the other Spathi theme!

March 1st, 2006 - 18:41:41

groundctrl: The Druuge and Mycon remixes can be found on the download page, along with the rest of the finished remixes.

Also, thanks to all of you for the continued support! We really appreciate it. :)

February 28th, 2006 - 22:53:08

The remixes are cool. These tunes have spirit. It's great to hear the old 4 track - 8bit mod,xm tunes in 44khz stereo with remixed with bright samples. I liked the pkunk and suppox mixes.. shofixti has cool scratches. And where is the Druuge mix? What about the Mycons?

February 28th, 2006 - 04:05:42

February 18th, 2006 - 14:04:24

Ok then... we DONT want the Yehat remix, in fact we hate those stupid birds and their stupid tune. Please oh please donít post the Yehat remix; it will be like posting no remix at all. Spare us the agony.

February 18th, 2006 - 00:00:34

You guys know, the more you ask for the Yehat theme the more likely it will be held for last to keep up your anticipation. *grin*

February 17th, 2006 - 07:50:42

February 10th, 2006 - 22:37:34

February 10th, 2006 - 22:26:49

Hmmmm we have a problem here. It's friday and I see no new songs yet. Suspencefull isn't it

February 10th, 2006 - 03:39:25

Oh, you just *know* they're saving the Yehat theme for last, to build suspense....

You know, I'd had one interesting thought today... come up with themes for the three 'missing' races: the Androsynth, MrrmMrrm, and Chenjesu..

February 5th, 2006 - 03:40:05

I'm so glad I found this site. NOSTALGIA MAXXED OUT!!! yeah! hahaha

February 4th, 2006 - 20:17:35

Pkunks not dead is odd O.O

*Squeezing the juice* is really good remix but i miss those deep sea voices :(

February 4th, 2006 - 03:01:24

Pkunks not Dead! I like the guitar in there! Friday is the best day of the week!

February 3rd, 2006 - 21:16:40

The Pkunk remix has been released!

Well, what will grace our ears today? Pkunk? Syreen? Or the highly coveted Yehat theme?
Ah hell...let's have ALL THREE! =8D

February 2nd, 2006 - 07:18:39

But, yehat theme.... :(
Please? :(

God. I thought I was a quite alone freak of SC2, and now I discover that we are plenty!

I played SC2 in the nineties, then again in 2002, and now I plan to play it again.

SC2's music is essential in the game atmosphere. 100000% thanks to the original music creators and the precursors team. I can't believe this project is so much active.

Thank you so much!

Great Stuff. I just found this site recently. Glad to see other dedicated SC fans. Unfortunately, our community with its' diehard support has not been rewarded with a new game.

January 30th, 2006 - 07:21:46

Ahhh, awesome! You Precursors rock. I love the Utwig remixes. And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one jonesing for some Yehat theme.

Keep it up guys! Now if only someone would re-do the SCII graphics... ;-)

January 27th, 2006 - 22:36:20

"Orz - *Squeezing* the *Juice*" has been released!

January 27th, 2006 - 22:06:05

Me thinks they are teasing us knowing we want the Yehat theme. Prolly saving that for the last. Clever indeed. COME ON GUYS WE'RE DYING HERE

January 27th, 2006 - 19:44:35

Arg! Friday...ticking...away...must...have...new...music...

January 23rd, 2006 - 22:22:44

All the new remixes are good! Specially the Supox, Chmmrr and both Utwig tracks... I can't wait for the Yehat theme!

January 23rd, 2006 - 18:08:11

Groovy tracks but, no remix of the Orz theme?

January 23rd, 2006 - 16:41:15

Good site. Thanx for it! :) I`ll recomended it to my friends.

January 21st, 2006 - 23:32:52

Really like that Supox remix!

January 21st, 2006 - 00:44:41

I said I was going to check every week for the latest songs in Pack 4 and sure enough here they are. Every week I check for the latest. Some things I agree like the scream in Shofixti seems odd and the machine sounds could be lowered to make room for the main melody.

Both Utwig songs seemed to move flawless, the Supox remix is awesome, and I loved attending Frungy parties.

I too am anticipating the Yehat Remix.
PS. Thanks.

January 20th, 2006 - 19:27:42

The Zoq-Fot-Pik and Supox remixes have been posted. Have fun!

January 19th, 2006 - 10:32:50

The original mods can also be found on this site. On the page for each song, there is an entry saying "Remix of:", and then there's a link to the original.

January 19th, 2006 - 05:02:58

The .mod files are pretty easy to find, actually. Mirsoft has a good selection, if memory serves.

Great job on the new tracks, guys! I would have preferred a more 'oriental' feel to the Shofixti than the hip-hop/rap feel it has, but it's all good. The Utwig 'Mask' is *great*.. quiet, brooding.. One can almost see the dust-blown ruins of a city, the wind blowing through schoolyards....

January 19th, 2006 - 00:47:46

A Dream come true, is there anymore of the .MOD files, fromthe actual game

January 18th, 2006 - 18:36:27

An old wish come true.

Thank You.

January 18th, 2006 - 05:39:12

Don't forget the *special sauce* for the *happy times*.

January 17th, 2006 - 14:42:55

Yehat theme is one of my favorites, you should remix that. :)

Precursors are *happy campers*

January 14th, 2006 - 16:17:22

Beeeeautiful :)

January 14th, 2006 - 00:15:38

Two new remixes have been added to the download section. They are the Shofixti and Chmmr remixes. Enjoy!

January 11th, 2006 - 21:26:32

But in Ur-Quan Masters page they say that you haven't finished with you project yet. I was saying that finish your project before you have to skip some friday over. That wouldn't be nice. And one piece a week is kind slow. With normal size of your packs it will take something like 2 months. Sorry I miswrited my first post.

January 11th, 2006 - 20:35:43

If you had read the post 4 spots below yours, you could have saved yourself the trouble of asking.

January 11th, 2006 - 19:44:47

Still some of my favorites missing, such as Syreen and Supox themes. I would like to hear them, so could you hurry up with fourth pack? Please?

January 11th, 2006 - 02:18:28

Oh thank you! Thank you! I loved being teased... GIVE IT TO ME!!!

January 9th, 2006 - 08:03:58

January 9th, 2006 - 05:36:00

Great news! But the links seem to be broken for getting the songs. :(

January 7th, 2006 - 20:11:09

For those of you who don't visit the Ur-Quan Masters homepage, here's a heads-up:

We're going to be releasing remixes weekly from Remix Pack 4, starting... yesterday! The first remixes available are two different Utwig remixes, both of which play during the game at different times. You can get them from the Download Music page, under Additional Precursors Releases. They'll be put under the Remix Pack 4 section when all the remixes have been released.

For more information, check out sc2.sourceforge.net.

Enjoy! :)

January 3rd, 2006 - 06:33:46

Thank you for *happy* sounds. Is best for making *parties* with *slow walkers*. New tunes are so fun!

January 2nd, 2006 - 21:36:42

Hey! This remixes are awesome! I played SC2 long ago and the way that you guys remixed all the songs is very good! When will be ready the fourth pack? I'm eagerly waiting for it. The tracks that liked me the most are Culture 19, Safe Space, Turning Purple and Now and Forever. Keep going!

January 2nd, 2006 - 20:00:29

When will your fourth album come out? You have done excellent work on remixes :) My favorites are Culture 19 and Ultra-Gross!

January 2nd, 2006 - 12:50:37

It's not strange at all if you consider where the majority of PC-composers were from at the beginning of the 90s: Finland.

January 2nd, 2006 - 00:32:14

Strange that some finnish people has been working on orginal sc2 sounds and music. I am a Finn myself. Happy new year to all of you!

January 1st, 2006 - 02:16:15

Happy New Years, folks.

December 13th, 2005 - 10:23:44

Awesome music! Excellent work Precursors!

I really like the Thradderdash tune, can you add some more base to it though? The melee tunes are excellent, I listen to them while I work. You gotta add some Orz!!!! Ba-rump, ba-rump-pa! Also, we need an extended Pkunk!

Thanks for the great music!

pierre marshall
December 6th, 2005 - 07:41:37

I think your music is great!

December 2nd, 2005 - 15:14:03

Make the Remix Pack 4 downloadable before x-mas? please.

November 25th, 2005 - 17:52:14

Really a great job! worthy of a cinema film (someday perhaps it'll be maked)

Congratulations n keep up the good work... best regards from Peru.

November 25th, 2005 - 15:48:46

W-H-E-N????? I can't stand the waiting!!!

Andrey Gayvoronsky
November 23rd, 2005 - 18:54:14

although....maybe i'm wrong and miss Bjorn with other game. Not sure, but i remember that i "discover" him not in Worms, but in something from the deeeep past.

Maybe in SC2 only Dan Nicolson was :) Simple i'm sure that someone was involved in SC2 and we mailed each other few times :) From all "oldies" only: Skaven, Dan, Bjorn and Moby were on my contacts :)

Andrey Gayvoronsky
November 23rd, 2005 - 18:40:09

If i don't miss anything than he was titled for Androsyn theme at least. I can't check right now, but in the past - during my "ripping" period, afaik i see Dr.Awesome at some titles. Maybe i'm wrong, but to be sure, i have to get all modules to test ;)

November 22nd, 2005 - 16:05:34

Sorry to disappoint you, but Bjørn Lynne, to the best of my knowledge, never had anything to do with Star Control or The Ur-Quan Masters.

I'm a big fan of his music though.

Andrey Gayvorosnky
November 22nd, 2005 - 15:17:46

Hello! Afaik Bjorn Lynne (Dr.Awesome) was composed few tunes for original game too. He signed own tunes as Dr.Awesome in the past. He can be found here: lynnemusic dot com

November 21st, 2005 - 22:47:35

If the goal is to make them as close to the original is possible, then nothing beats the originals, which still rock. But I like the different ones more.

November 21st, 2005 - 20:18:41

Neat, keep going ;)

November 21st, 2005 - 05:03:49

I kind of hate the remixes...They are too different than the real game's real music.
I imagine hearing theese music when playing SC2, and
it's like if I'm not playing the real game...But it would be great if the music where really close the same, but with a little more bass, tunes. (A bit)

November 19th, 2005 - 15:33:55

The best music of the world for the best game of the world.

Wonderful work.

November 17th, 2005 - 16:39:14

November 12th, 2005 - 23:46:03

You should get a better doctor.

November 12th, 2005 - 20:28:15

HURRY UP! My Doctor says I only have a short while left to live, and I want to hear the Alliance Remixes before I die...

November 6th, 2005 - 11:42:24

I'm a huge fan of star control I wanted to know what it would take to see about producing a screen play or a series of screen plays on the star control universe.

Who would I contact?
What kinds of outlay would I need to cover all the games?
Where could I get a basic outlay.

I wish to get a correct and accurate script.

feel free to contact me via email

October 30th, 2005 - 05:21:26

Hmmm, we're all waiting patiently of course. But is it ok to ask, what tracks are finished and which are not? Or is this secret information? ;)

October 29th, 2005 - 16:48:21

SC2 universe was incredibly done. The music for the time was nothing short of genius, and just stretches the imagination. Thanks for the great times, and great music..........

October 27th, 2005 - 08:12:30

Not true. Most of the tracks are done, as I've pointed out earlier. We want to release them as one package though.

October 27th, 2005 - 05:47:24

It's not that they've only made half the songs and are waiting to finish the rest, it's that they've only *begun* making the songs.. As far as I know, Frungy Party is the only one completed of the last group. They're not holding out on us, there's just nothing to *give*

October 26th, 2005 - 09:27:43

I understand the strain of doing a free project and volunteering your time. However, I think a better solution than a long delay is to release tracks as they are finished. This will keep your audience happy and reduce the strain on you.

October 26th, 2005 - 06:04:36

Unbelievable stuff! The music out of Star Control 2 is definitely some of the underrated video game music ever. I catch myself humming tunes from the game all the time and the last time I've played it was 5 years ago.

October 23rd, 2005 - 23:13:15

Great remixes, Best Game Everô, hurrah!

October 23rd, 2005 - 19:37:55

Also, while many thousands of people have MP3 players, a much smaller percentage have MP3 players that can handle Oggs.

Besides, we're getting some great music for free, so no griping that it's in a different format than you may personally like.

October 22nd, 2005 - 10:57:23

We use OGG for the remix packs, and MP3 for the downloadable tracks on the website. If you want the OGG versions, download the zip packages.

October 22nd, 2005 - 05:38:31

Impressive work!

Personally, the 4 tunes in SC2 I loved, seem to be composed by one genius!

The remixes are absolutely best what I ever heard before.

Only one correctable minus is a MP3 format, OGG is a standard already, please use it!

Much luck!

Soul ninja

October 21st, 2005 - 19:30:52

I have to agree with some of the other posters in regards to the Ur-Quan music. The original was loud and aggressive and struck the fear of God into me everytime I heard it. The remixed version is good in a different way, but doesn't have the aggression I think it needs...

Also, for the record, I loved the slow, pensive original Mycon music as a reflection of their nature, and I'm not sold on their new club mix personally. Everything else is GREAT though (I love the new Spathi and Umgah tunes especially), so keep it up.

October 20th, 2005 - 01:52:07

I am looking forward to those instruments that hes talking about.

You COULD always preview another track....

October 20th, 2005 - 00:32:21

We already did that (see Forevian, which turned out very well indeed), but the remaining tracks we would prefer to do ourselves for various reasons.

October 19th, 2005 - 23:38:55

In response to a_bugger's comments, I'd like to state the following:

I don't know if it's a matter of trust or a responsibility that the team has taken upon themselves to provide for us. I'd rather say that they were too successful, because they got us coming back for more, and unfortunately it's been a long time since they were able to provide anything new.

That aside, I think that the truely constructive criticism that could be made is more of this type:

If somebody has his share done already for a long time, and we're still awaiting on a few other people who have for whatever reason been absent, perhaps what is required is a redivision of labor and/or a redivision of the packs... perhaps Pack 4 needs to be subdivided in order to quench our thirst for new music, while keeping some of the pressure off of the team.

The question is, what do the team members think about my comments and suggestions?

October 18th, 2005 - 12:59:12

That real life is good point, but i still want to see the date near the fourth remix pack.Keep going, i wan'na hear more those funny voices ;) Mwah!

October 18th, 2005 - 05:31:57

Ur-Quan Masters is the best game. It's still better than the zoom and doom games that have taken over.

October 18th, 2005 - 01:35:42

Don't rush the muse... give them time to do the last remix pack and do it well.. of course, I'm already pretty certain they're gonna do it well. :)

October 18th, 2005 - 00:57:22

I dont understand the source of your critism 'a bugger.' Any fans who have written remixes are perfectly free to submit them as I understand it. Remember Forevian?

And yes, projects fall apart, unsuspected things happen. So what? They have already written amazing music and I hope that they will release the final pack because I'm sure it would be amazing.

a bugger
October 16th, 2005 - 12:53:51

First I'd like to say how much i appreciate the quality and amount of work done by the team thus far. The music is awesome and despite what I am going to say, I myself don't harbor any anger or contempt towards the team members and i doubt others do either. I am just seriously worried about the state of the project.

I know the following is going to be unpopular...

I've been following the project since almost the beginning and I'd like to say that 3 years from the beginning and 16 months since the last release are damn long times. I fully understand that the team members have private problems and financial difficulties etc. and these naturally take priority over the project. After all they are doing this voluntarily just for our benefit, right? Well, yes, but they also took the burden of trust from the community to finish the project in a timely fashion when they started all of this. It has been a very long time in the making. I don't think I am being unreasonable in asking these questions.

The project is free-as-in-beer so we can't really complaint about not getting everything right now and right here. The community isn't going to dissolve any time soon either even if it takes years to finish the project. So does it really matter how long it takes? I think it does. Thousands of people have been laying their trust in the team for years now. They have just been quietly waiting all this time. Just like I have been.

After all this time I read that one member of the team has finished his contributions, another one isn't even in regular communications with the core team and the remaining two have financial burdens laid upon them.

Unsuspected things happen and projects stall. It happens all of the time and I am not saying that this current stall is a malignant one. It's just something that happened. What I would like to know is how will it all be solved? To play the devil's advocate: I am quite sure that there are equally talented music makers out there willing to lend a hand to finish the job if things have gotten this bad.

I have been a patient fan of the project but these latest developments have finally made me speak up. Sorry about it all but I just felt I had to rebut some of these fans here who were whining that you can't criticise a free-as-in-beer project. Yes you can. I just did. I hope it has been even remotely constructive.

October 12th, 2005 - 19:49:18

Great work. Really puts me back in the star control world I remeber from when I was younger.

October 12th, 2005 - 02:19:18

I dunno if it is just me, but whoever that Stephen person is that is commenting on all the music, it seems like he could bitch and complain about anything! Just appreciate it for the memories dude god. These guys put alot of hard work into it and all you can do is critisize them. It's bad enough they have everyone else getting on there cases about the 4th set, you dont need to add to they're stress. They dont have to do this, but they do it for us. So just take it and appreciate it.

October 11th, 2005 - 22:59:00

Its good to hear that you havn't forgotten about it. Is it Riku who is done his contributions? I'm sorry to hear that either way.

Your music is still some of the best stuff I've ever heard... ever. And thats compaired to Prokofiev and Aphex Twin (seriously).

I hope your still having fun making the Remixs, I'm still having fun hearing them.

October 11th, 2005 - 19:27:58

No need to get defensive, was just curious to know since I hadn't seen much lately about it. My condolensces to the person working 2 jobs and not getting a day off in 2 weeks. I know the feeling - I'm taking 3 classes at college AND running a small business full time. I probably can relate to the feeling. ;-)

It's a shame that I have no music talent (yet at least), otherwise I'd offer to help.

Keep up the good work, and know that you got a lot of supporters here cheering on for the next release.

"Real Life is for those who can't deal with the Internet."

October 10th, 2005 - 17:10:52

Just wanted to take the time to second TiLT's comment. We haven't forgotten about pack 4, and although I'm personally itching to hear the fan community's reviews on the finished tracks, I'll just have to wait until it's all done. Meanwhile, thanks a lot for the continued support.

BTW, I'm the one with the broken computer.

October 9th, 2005 - 19:00:28

While I don't have a count of finished tracks vs unfinished ones right here (rest assured though, almost all the tracks are done), I can say the following: Real Life (tm) is taking precedence for most of us currently. Of the four members of the Precursors, one (me) has two jobs and a social life that is steadily degrading into nothingness because of this (it's been over two weeks since the last time I had a single day off), one has a currently broken computer, one is never heard from, and one is pretty much done with his contributions.

Remix Pack 4 *will* be released. However, there is no way for us to give you an estimate of when. It's done when it's done, and begging (no matter how polite or well formulated it is) doesn't speed up the process.

I'd like to thank you all for your patience. It's heartwarming to see all the nice comments on this site.

October 9th, 2005 - 09:44:06

Well, we know the ZFP music is done.. FRUNGY!!

For what it's worth, I slipped Frungy Party into the dance tunes at a party with some friends.. Yes, you can dance to it.

October 7th, 2005 - 22:14:44

As a fan who has been eagerly anticipating Pack IV, I was curious to know what the current status is of the songs. How many complete vs. how many not yet complete?

October 4th, 2005 - 14:41:01

Well done lads. But where is the Yehat theme music?

September 20th, 2005 - 12:09:08

I think you just made space travelling possible ;)
"Travelling without moving", remember ?

Wish you space of joy,
Armen, Norway.

September 19th, 2005 - 23:07:08

I remember playing Starcontrol II when it just came out. I now can enjoy Starcontrol II as "The UrQuan Masters" but now I can enjoy the *new* Starcontrol II with the new music. As soon as I found out about the music - I smiled for hours. At the time only PACK I & II was out but then to make the smile last longer - PACK III came out just a week later of my discovery. Now I've been checking the website every week for the past ..... ok I lost count. But I must know that I will be one of the first to smile when I see PACK IV available. Anticipation will continue to build for you guys.

September 19th, 2005 - 04:45:27

Yo i appreciate you making this. Keep this shit up, its nice

September 16th, 2005 - 15:07:16

I cant belive it!
Good job, redoing the music. I really love it.

Thanks for the great work!

A triple Hooray for you, guys

Thanks again. Thanks for bringing my good old times back...

September 6th, 2005 - 04:47:39

All of the remixes are excellent. I love listening to them on their own, and in-game.

I salute all of the work that the Precursors have done, and I eagerly await the rest of the remixes =)

(Btw, about the site, I dislike having the black borders around the edges. Makes the site look really small)

Someone said a while back that the next cd release would be at the end of August. Any word on that?

August 31st, 2005 - 17:20:21

For this great music, I give my thanks.
Having only found the new music only a couple of months ago, I'm not jonesing that badly for pack 4 (though I'm glad to hear that the Yehat theme is included - I've always loved the feeling of anguish and nobility it conveys to me..).
About my only irritation is with the Hyperspace music, where the main melody is much too subdued for my taste - having listened to it for quite a few hours altogether, the new version just seems sort of bland...
And the Ur-Quan rock even more than previous, and that bit with the organs in the middle part... wow. The downside is that I can't have it my playlist late in the evening since it feels like sacrilege to play it quietly. =)

August 29th, 2005 - 20:59:07

August 25th, 2005 - 22:29:23

The music to this game has haunted me since I started playing it in 1992. I played the game on and off for 4 or 5 years after that because I wasn't able to put it down for longer than a month or three. I still hum some of the tunes to my self while I'm working. It's good to be able to play and listen again and it's good to know that I'm not the only one that's been wanting to quite badly :)

I don't think I've ever heard as much soul and originality comming out of MOD format as I heard on the original sound track and the new stuff doesn't dissapoint in the slightest. It's great to have it all back :)

Still wondering how I can get my hands on a starship of my own though. Been wishing I could have one ever since I finished the game.

Keep up the good work guys! Looking forward to hearing the Working Song that the Chmmr had as theme

August 16th, 2005 - 12:16:01

OMG! when the yehat remix will release? i've waited it long... AAAaaarghh!?!

August 13th, 2005 - 15:07:47

Absolutely astounding. Found out about the remix project while installing Ur-Quan Masters 0.4.0, and the leap of faith to install remixed tunes was well worth it. The spirit and ideas of the original tunes are there, but also lots of new ideas and soundscapes that drag me out of the chair floating off somewhere between Vulpeculae and Circini. Take your time in getting inspired, it's been well over 10 years listening to the original tunes without getting tired of them :)

August 9th, 2005 - 22:15:29

Awesome job guys! I've got a lot of the remixes in iTunes and I listen to them at work. I can't wait to hear the fourth album. Bravo on a job well done!

August 7th, 2005 - 19:47:38

Well, not so much as incentive.. We're not putting money towards the next one, but rather thanking for the ones you have created?

August 6th, 2005 - 22:12:03

While I wouldn't object if people wanted to contribute to the project with money, it's not something that would really help the project move along. We wouldn't be able to dedicate more time to it because of a few PayPal donations, and we might actually develop additional guilt for not being quicker about it, which in turn could harm our inspiration.

August 6th, 2005 - 18:04:02

Actually, that might not be a good idea...

If you guys set up a PayPal link, what are the odds a few folks would be willing to chip in a little money as helpful incentive..? Let's face it, it's good music, and enough people like it, people should be willing to contribute towards its production.

August 4th, 2005 - 05:15:05

Really helps bring one of my favourite games of all time back to life. Thanks guys.

July 25th, 2005 - 05:59:06

Thank you for bringing forth the memories of old, folks!

A lot of people have most fond feelings for the
unforgettable tracks of SCII.

July 20th, 2005 - 23:37:13

We are all anxious to get the 4th remix pack. Just have some patience.... or in this case lots of patience :)

July 16th, 2005 - 00:23:14

I just love those remixes. They really deepen the game. Great job :)

July 15th, 2005 - 10:24:35

I guess I should mention that there's little hope of anything arriving until late August at the earliest, since VOiD is away from most of his music equipment for the month, and I have several finals I need to prepare for in August.

Don't worry people, we're on the right track with the Yehat remix, and we're willing to give it the time and love that it needs. :)

July 14th, 2005 - 23:01:06

It's your lucky day! Thanks to swift action by Mark Vera, we just added the back cover for remix pack 2. Enjoy! :)

July 14th, 2005 - 15:19:32

Hey guys, i know youve been busy making the remixes, but do you know when the rear cd cover for the 2nd remix pack will be made coz im currently creating the cds and it wud rock if there woz a rear cd cover for the 2nd one.

July 13th, 2005 - 19:25:30

Wow. Just awesome ;)

Release the fourth pack soon ^^

July 11th, 2005 - 20:07:36

You should release the fourth pack soon or people will probably think that the whole remixing team has been abducted by the Arilou. :-)
But seriously, I appreciate you work, that's why I'm nagging.

July 8th, 2005 - 20:25:32

Awesome work. Brings back memories. SC2 music brought me into the demoscene in the early 90s, and I was a scream/impulse tracker musician for a while, back in the day. I know how tricky remixing those early mods and trying to keep the atmosphere intact can be, and I have to say the Precursors have done a superb job, and earned their group moniker. Clearly, you guys are superior beings. Now, having said that, let me join my voice to the chorus begging for the New Alliance tracks! I've been checking the site regularly since November, waiting.... the natives are getting restless. We want our Yehat theme!

But again, awesome. There's almost nothing awesomer.

July 7th, 2005 - 18:25:04

Awesome music!!! Keep 'em comin'. Any idea when the missing CD-Covers will be available? Thanks again for the great music.

July 6th, 2005 - 17:14:13

Great work, both music and CD cover pics. Thank you very much!

July 4th, 2005 - 22:20:37

We come in peace... And we will play urquanmasters tru. it was so good game. And those retro sound was was... WONDERFULLLLLLLLLLL!

July 4th, 2005 - 14:48:36

Your music accompanied me since two years and I can't get enough of it.

Thanks for your work.

July 1st, 2005 - 22:51:27

Nice work on the ZFP remix guys! However, it would be nice to release the last pack. A lot of the NAFS themes are some our favorites. Any idea for an ETA?

June 30th, 2005 - 12:19:46

Make those others remixes soon, i can't wait.

June 30th, 2005 - 12:15:27

June 27th, 2005 - 15:27:38

Originals were better :-D

June 26th, 2005 - 22:38:08

Yay, cool instrumental music!! This is what the world needs more of :) ! I really like some certain tunes like
Outfit the vindicator
Rough Repair
System Exploration
and Under a red sky
I've never played the game but I'm looking forward to doing so and I hope it will give me even better feelings about this music. If someone wanna hear more instrumental music, it can be found here --> http://karmah.hopto.org/karmah this address might change so you can google for itK keep up the creativeness!! Peace out

June 22nd, 2005 - 20:00:35

It has been *a year* since the last release. We all love the music and we know creative work takes its own time but could you please finish the remaining handful of songs? :|

June 21st, 2005 - 18:15:48

I luuv your music, it's just great.

June 21st, 2005 - 15:22:45

StarControl 2 roxx!!! :D

Your remixes are as great as the game itself!

June 19th, 2005 - 19:16:04

Wow, you guys truly recognise the greatness of SCII.

You guys>evryone else.

June 18th, 2005 - 23:46:04

I cant understand y all of u like that yehat tune so much, I find the syreen tune much better then the yehat/
syreen tune = probebly the best tune in the game

June 16th, 2005 - 09:51:32

YEHAT tune!
I'm ready to wait one more YEAR to get it remixed.
Make it GOOD pleeease... Like the Thraddash one.
Or VUX one. Or incredible Hyperspace.

June 12th, 2005 - 06:28:23

Love your remixes of the original SC2 music. You guys are fantastic!

Green Lantern
June 11th, 2005 - 07:16:45

Absolutely amazing... You guys are awesome!

June 8th, 2005 - 17:20:08

need... more.... tunes...

going... stir... crazy....

June 1st, 2005 - 08:00:35

Wow.. I never knew that so many people appreciated the music of SC2 like I did... I used to blast the speakers for this game!
Great stuff here.

May 26th, 2005 - 01:10:08

Thank you very much for doing this. SC2 rocks! It's the best game I've ever played and one of the best things about it was it's fun and catchy music. Now I can listen to it all the time! I think I need a moment... *tear*

May 25th, 2005 - 07:26:27

It seems like the Yehat theme is in high demand. Is there anyway we could get a preview of it? Or maybe an idea of which theme your working on?

May 23rd, 2005 - 20:38:37

Beautiful remixes! SC2 is definately among my top 3 favorite games of all time. I think the selling point was the brilliant humor and the music. I hope you guys keep on mixing to deliver the final Alliance races for release in 2005.

May 19th, 2005 - 08:17:27

When are you guys going to release some more songs? I love these for when I have to do homework; nothing speeds up level design like some Arilou sounds ;)

May 18th, 2005 - 19:29:07

Simply put, this is the way that sc2 should have sounded. The remixes give new life to this great game. ...and have been making my workday a little better with the mp3s.
Thanx for all the hard work.

Blade Runner
May 18th, 2005 - 02:24:58

I am a true music enthusiast but this really reaches deep into my mind and pulls out that little bit of from beyond that we all need to grasp. Music is not always meant to be a #1 hit but you guys will always be beyond that. Keep it comin!

May 17th, 2005 - 15:41:07

Yeah, frungy's good, but I can't wait for the legendary Yehat theme, damn, my personal favourite, then it's the Now and Forever remix. Good job, and don't screw up the yehat theme please.

May 16th, 2005 - 11:48:28

Frungy Party is absolutely awesome!!! We actually all of your remixes are :-)

When are we going to get a new version of the Yehat Theme? Can't wait to hear a remix of this legendary tune!!!

Take Care Guys,

May 16th, 2005 - 04:49:13

Frungy! Frungy frungy frungy!!

Oooh... Nice bass on this one..

May 12th, 2005 - 12:42:18

As for myself I barely use Reason nowadays. Only for pattern based drum machine stuff. I prefer using something like Cubase with VSTi-s (both synth and sampler stuff) and various instruments recorded live. In the ZFP theme there are no "live instruments" but you'll hear some in other releases. I think they add some spice to this mostly electronic orientated project.

May 12th, 2005 - 09:22:32

Oh man! I was soooooooooooooooo thrilled when i discover this to be abandoned, and finally found a downloadable copy to play after years.

Then i discocvered this site!
Man! U guys rocks!
Keep up the good work man!
I am going to enjoy this new version very very much!

May 8th, 2005 - 14:10:21

Frungy! The sport of Kings!!

May 7th, 2005 - 00:17:39

Just wanted to thank you all for creating such amaing music! I loved the old SC2 soundtrack... but the new one is light years ahead! Amazing. Thanks for all the hard work.

May 4th, 2005 - 09:14:01

Forget what I said bout the ZoqFot song back in December! (Even though I was mistaken then for another reason entirely). This remix is BETTER than the originals (PC-dos and 3d0). Keep up the outstanding work. And a little advice for all of the impatient ones out there: Art takes as long as it takes. Attempting to hurry it has one of two results, it either takes even longer to complete, or will not be as good as originally envisioned. So relax, and let the anticipation build. It makes for a better experience anyhow :)

May 4th, 2005 - 07:33:19

Mirrors for the Zoq-Fot-Pik preview are now available:

May 4th, 2005 - 07:22:48

To install the music in the game, you need to download the full zip packages with the .ogg-files inside. For information on how to do this, go to sc2.sourceforge.net.

May 4th, 2005 - 04:54:23

I cannot download the Zoqfot preview!!! The server must be down... mirror, anyone?

*enjoy the sauce*
May 4th, 2005 - 04:08:29

Is there a way to play the remix music during the game without useing a media player? I was fooling around with the downloaded files (putting them in the addon folder) but it still would only play the classic music. Is there a trick or a specific spot I should but the files in? Any help would very appreciated.

May 2nd, 2005 - 16:50:12

A roundup of answers to some questions asked below:

-We use Propellerheads' Reason for composing.

-Star Control 2 is indeed being ported to modern systems (W95/98/NT/2k/XP/MacOSX/&c.). You can find details at http://sc2.sourceforge.net.

-Melodies scheduled for release in pack four are: Yehat, Utwig, Zoq-Fot-Pik, Supox, Syreen, Pkunk, Chmmr, Shofixti, and Orz, as well as some bonus tracks. No release date has been set, because all of these are not yet finished. Don't worry, we're still working on it.

May 2nd, 2005 - 14:53:26

just can´t tell you how i enjoyed your page, thanks you.
Does anybody know about a version of star control 2 for 98,xp, or 2000?

May 2nd, 2005 - 07:19:59

Is there anyway we could get a list of what themes are on the 4th CD??? Or maybe even an update on when it will be completed?

May 1st, 2005 - 00:03:43

You guys rock! Thank you very very much for putting this out!

I love the original SC2 music, and when I first saw this site, I was expecting the originals, but in modern sound. At first, I was a little disappointed, but then as I kept listening, a lot of the tracks grew on me. There are so many beautiful tracks in their own right.

Awesome job!

April 30th, 2005 - 01:08:40

Man that is some good stuff...I think I'm gonna have to convince my band to play the Thraddash song.

Also wondering how you guys made these songs

Neichus/*Jumping Peppers*
April 26th, 2005 - 00:34:24

Nice stuff. I had my friend shoot a few over some months back (Property of the Crimson Corporation, Through the Angles of Space), but I didn't realize there was a larger source until somebody on a forum tipped me off. :-)

April 25th, 2005 - 19:45:46

I second that! The Yehat theme was a favorite of mine, as well as the Chmmr.

Quasispace is amazing. Property of the Crimson Corporation is utterly fantastic.

April 20th, 2005 - 22:11:20

All the songs kick major ass. Can't wait for the 4th set. I personally would love to hear the Yehat theme!!!

April 19th, 2005 - 17:48:23

Could you be a little more specific? Everything seems to be okay here.

April 19th, 2005 - 15:02:42

I think your site is not working...

fix machine just fix that machine fix machine beep bop
bop bop fix machine .. love those planets plans

April 19th, 2005 - 04:52:03

Simply astounding!!!

Keep up the amazing work!

April 18th, 2005 - 17:33:31

Sheer brilliance! Looking forward to pack four :)

Just a dork
April 16th, 2005 - 16:38:57

We want pack 4. Want, want, want! :)

Matt Langston
April 14th, 2005 - 22:08:13

Great work guys! Lookin forward to pack 4.

April 5th, 2005 - 02:22:11

Bloody brilliant!

April 4th, 2005 - 10:55:05

*Waits patiently*..

March 30th, 2005 - 22:05:17

Can we get an update on a possible timeframe for the release of the fourth pack?
Or, perhaps, could you guys release the current completed tracks as pack four, and bump the unfinished ones into a fifth pack?

March 26th, 2005 - 11:11:35

We'd have to discuss that in the team. Drop us a mail, for example by clicking my nick over this post, and we'll get back to you.

March 25th, 2005 - 16:20:07

Also, I don't recall having seen a license file anywhere explaining what rights are granted for use of the music. I was interested in using a couple of these remixes as phone system hold music (some of the more laid back tracks). Can somebody clarify if this is permitted?

March 18th, 2005 - 06:11:08

Grah grah grah... shish boom bah...

Zoq zoq zoq... thraddash pkunk kohr-ah...

Is it a cheer or a nag for fulfillment? You decide. ;-)

March 17th, 2005 - 22:53:00

Hey, I've finished my part of the job half a year ago. I'd like to use these remixes as reference works. Please hasten up releasing the pack!

March 8th, 2005 - 17:37:29

Good work on the first three packs, hopefully the fourth comes out soon.
When the remixing team was asked when the third pack would be finished, they told:
"It won't be too long now, promise"
It took almost five months after that comment...

March 6th, 2005 - 02:19:37

pack 4
pack 4
pack 4

March 1st, 2005 - 19:25:45

Yes please, samples, at least one for the needy!

February 23rd, 2005 - 05:32:36

Any chance you guys could perhaps release a track or two from pack four, just to satiate those of us who've been oh-so-(im)patiently awaiting it? =)

February 20th, 2005 - 22:58:08

Thats good,this is good music
*Listens to Property of the Crimson Corperation*

February 20th, 2005 - 11:09:15

I moved, after 3 years of living in the same godforsaken building. What a relief!

February 19th, 2005 - 17:06:58

No internet? I'm surprised you didn't end up in the hospital. ;-) Seriously, that sucks. What happened that you lost your internet connection, TiLT?

February 15th, 2005 - 16:39:08

Just to give you nice folks an update: Both VOiD and I have been without internet for a considerable amount of time, and only got it back recently. In fact, I got my connection back 3 hours ago. This has put a damper on the remixing project, but we'll be getting back to business ASAP. We're nearly there, trust me. :)

February 14th, 2005 - 17:37:08

Hey! Why does it take too long to release the last pack, huh? I'd like to see my tunes released as well as yours.

February 11th, 2005 - 01:58:51

Also not to nag or sound ungrateful, but I am also eagerly awaiting for the next pack as well. I don't have any music talent at the moment, otherwise I'd offer my assistance. ;-)

Just a dude
February 10th, 2005 - 15:13:20

I don't mean to sound ungrateful but could you guys please hurry up with remix pack 4? Your fans are eager for more :)

Great work with the existing remix packs 1, 2 and 3. Loved pretty much every single tune in those.

February 8th, 2005 - 03:45:00

Excellent music. It goes great with UQM (of course), as well as with Vendetta Online, and I also listen to it while I write... thank you for creating it and letting the public download it.

Rock on, Precursors.

February 6th, 2005 - 15:34:04

OGGs as separate downloads are coming very soon.

February 5th, 2005 - 15:38:46

I want the Remix Pack 4! Aaaahhhhh!

Erinomaista suomalaista osaamista!

February 3rd, 2005 - 07:40:44

A pity that "mine the planet below" is unavailable as ogg vorbis :( Did it make its way into bonus packages? Why don't you guys provide oggs as separate downloads?? Other than that, great work! And I'm eagerly looking forward for pack4 :)

January 28th, 2005 - 00:57:20

WOW! I wish I had known about this sooner, this stuff blows my mind! Brings back memories, very tastefully done.

Wonderful work!

Picard ;)
January 25th, 2005 - 15:24:29

Hey! Thanks for all those great mind blowing, earth shaking and world changing remixes you've made! Are you guys making any new remixes soon? I'd so like to hear your version of the Chmmr theme! It was one of the best songs in the game, and I would really really appreciate if you could make your own version. So I could download it and listen to it whenever I wanted, without playing the game. Thanks!

January 25th, 2005 - 06:22:40

Now i finally know who made the original Yehat theme. The BEST piece of music i ever heard in my life. Great Work. I know there will be coming a new version and i hope it will be as good as the original. Better isn´t POSSIBLE in my opinion. Keep up the good work

David Gitlitz
January 14th, 2005 - 20:10:27

Thank you for all your hard work. I really enjoyed all of the remixes. Star Control 2 is undoubtedly THE GAME OF GAMES. Keep it coming!

January 12th, 2005 - 20:06:14

Well, I could spend all day praising your music.. but I believe whta I´m going to say to you gives the right idea of my opinion of your Remixes.
Put it simple, every time a new Remix pack came out, I nuked all my saved games and started the whole game from the beginning. Just so I could hear all those funny things the Dnyarri says with the Super-Cool "Didnt you mean to ask about flowers?" In the background.. And to hear the dramatic opening lines of the Ur-Quan with "Now and Forever" thundering in the background.. and best of all, feel those chills running through my spine as I am pulled out of Hyperspace and the screen reveals a formation 8 Kohr-Ah Marauders.. then that cool theme starts to play..
"We are the Ur-Quan Kohr-Ah. We cleanse our destiny. You will soon die. Make whatever rituals that are necessary for your species."
Thanks, guys.

January 12th, 2005 - 01:43:02

It DOES feel like the old days again! I only wish I knew somebody that knows about this game so I could show them these songs. AMAZING job on some of these.

January 10th, 2005 - 09:22:21

I don't know if this is the right place to ask about this...but no matter. I'm wondering why there is not Yehat remix yet on this website. I'm pretty sure I looked thoroughly. It was my favourite tune in the entire game...and I want it!

December 21st, 2004 - 18:35:36

Whoops! My bad! Maybe its just that I am annoyed with the Zoq-Fot 3d0 music, as my original enjoyment of the game came with the pc version :) Sorry bout that

December 18th, 2004 - 17:06:18

That's what I call a rushed review of the Zoq-Fot-Pik remix, considering it hasn't even been released yet. ;)

December 18th, 2004 - 05:39:45

Outstanding job so far guys! I love what has been done so far for the most part. I truly loved the remixes for the Thraddash, and Ur-Quan Kzer-za. I enjoyed the Spathi and Zoq-Fot not as much however. I am really looking forward to the Yehat theme remix. Loved the original. Keep up the outstanding work! It is truly appreciated by many!

December 8th, 2004 - 22:49:17

great efforts, guys.
Well done. Outstanding.
Please keep up good work.
Also, chmrr remix is really being awaited.. :)

December 6th, 2004 - 17:22:09

Hey this is great stuff. I'm not normally a fan of this kind of music, but knowing the story/game behind it makes me unzip the music every now and then to listen to it again. Thanks for all the work. Looking forward to number 4 :o)

November 29th, 2004 - 16:09:11

Hats off people. That's lot of good work done. You pleased my heart!
Just one wish and all is perfect ... you could include some playlist files in the zipped version ÷)

November 22nd, 2004 - 23:14:37

Keep up the good work!

November 22nd, 2004 - 17:10:53

I am glad to have found this site. I have been a fan of the Star Control II music since I found it on some mod site years ago. Keep up the good work, I will be back for the next installment.
P.S. I haven't even played the game, just heard the music.

November 18th, 2004 - 01:01:31

I've got to say, I'm very impressed. You guys have taken the superb music from Star Control 2 and managed to make it even better. Great job!

November 17th, 2004 - 14:18:10

If you are lookinh for midi ringtones you can find some of them here http://www.mirsoft.info/gmb/music_info.php?id_ele=MjU2OA==

Soon I will send some of my own conversions for yehat and thradash.

November 12th, 2004 - 11:19:45

Woo! I just discovered this site, how awesome! I've been a SC fan since back in '92, and the remake of the music is fantastic! Thanks, folkses!

November 6th, 2004 - 18:43:29

How can you make mobilephone mid's ? It would be fun if someone would make all races music to mobile as polyphonic sounds (mid).

Fervidus Humanus
November 4th, 2004 - 04:20:31

Ok, I found the music I was looking for on The Pages of Now and Forever. Here's a direct link to the music page. You have to sign up for GameSpy to get the files from FilePlanet, but it's really easy, the downloading is fast, and just an email is needed for confirmation. They haven't sent me any junk mail, either.

The Ur-Quan and Slylandro are my favourite tracks from the original. I know the Ur-Quan aren't THAT evil, but they are big badasses and deserve respect. Their music enforced that- your first reaction to the militaristic tone is: DANGER!

November 3rd, 2004 - 22:54:34

I forgot to ask: if there is to be an intro (like the scrolling one in sc2) are you going to remix the intro music as well? Same question for the ending music?

November 3rd, 2004 - 22:50:54

These remixes are all great. Ur-Quan remixes I like! They give sad but still menacing feeling. This suits the Ur-Quan who are conquerors only because of their tragic past. People should learn to view them more than just plainly "evil"!

Fervidus Humanus
November 3rd, 2004 - 02:39:37

These remixes are good for the most part, some good, some not so good. But it's hard to compete with the original tone and character of the original music. Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can download the original tracks? I can't find anything except MOD versions of the files. And for some reason, my media players can't read the MOD format files.

November 2nd, 2004 - 16:41:19

Remixes are great and they keep the spirit of starcontrol. At last the Thraddash theme is as it should be with all the guitars and feeling. Mycon remix is great. Now even Vux and Ilwrath are listenable I didn't like the original ones. But what the heck is wrong with all Ur-quan remixes, they all are too neat!!! It should be more aggresive and evil as the character and melody allows it to be so. Go for it! Keep up the good work.

October 27th, 2004 - 03:13:54

I loved this game when it came out! Kinda slipped out of conciousness for over a decade until I stumbled upon "Now and Forever" and got a link to the project and this page of remixes. Very Very cool :-)

October 23rd, 2004 - 03:11:30

What I meant was full length songs based around the victory ditties, and their "feel", but I suppose it would be extremely hard to this with 3 second sound clips to work with. And it's not like you guys don't have lives or anything. :P

October 22nd, 2004 - 16:11:39

We already made remixes of all the victory ditties, and in many cases even more than one. Take a look at the first remix pack on sc2.sourceforge.net.

You can also download the individual victory ditties from this site by visiting the artist pages. If an artist remixed any victory ditties, they will be listed at the bottom of the page, along with download links for both the original version and the remix. Enjoy! :)

October 22nd, 2004 - 07:00:03

Is the last remix pack almost nearly halfway done??

I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms, I need my fix! :P

What would be awesome if you managed to follow it up with remixes of the races' victory ditties. Now THAT would be cool!

October 12th, 2004 - 12:34:58

You can find Erol Otus' Ur-Quan remix in the bonus pack available at http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sc2/uqm-remix-pack3-extras.zip?download

As a general rule of thumb, we do not put individual bonus tracks up for download on the Precursors pages unless they were made by the core team. This *might* change in the future, but we'll see. :)

October 12th, 2004 - 07:38:59

Is that other remix by Erol Otus available anywhere? The extra Kzer-Za one?

BTW, this is some of the best music I've run across in a long, long time. Very, very nice work gentlemen.

October 10th, 2004 - 16:49:51

Randomly listened the Hyperspace remix today and decided to look for an update the first time in a while. Great new tunes!

October 2nd, 2004 - 15:44:03

*big smile while listening*

September 28th, 2004 - 23:54:56

How about this one for a Rainbow World track?

September 28th, 2004 - 09:02:18

Keep up the awesome work. Make a Rainbow World track.=P

September 24th, 2004 - 04:09:49

Fantastic work indeed! I've been following the progress of the Toys for Bob remake of Star Control 2 for quite some time and am enormously impressed by the skill and dedication of everyone involved with both the coding, as well as the remixing here with the Precursors work.

Thank you all once again for bringing fresh life with an original spin to one of the best video games ever made!

September 24th, 2004 - 01:06:04

Excellent work! I am greatly anticipating #4 -- the Yehat was my favorite alien music from the original game, I can't wait to hear the new take on it. :)

September 18th, 2004 - 13:39:42

Good job! Very good job. I want more :).

September 17th, 2004 - 11:20:42

Star Control lives on with the music!

Kris Nye
September 16th, 2004 - 01:54:51

Best. Game. Ever.

September 13th, 2004 - 15:11:54

really great stuff you are creating here. i LOVED the old music and i really enjoy, hearing it in a new and fresh quality.

PLEASE do something cool to the ORZ song, too!
this was always one of my favorites and i would really like to hear it in one of your great remixes.

with kind regards

September 11th, 2004 - 18:19:02

I like this GAME so I like this MUSIC !!!! ;)

August 22nd, 2004 - 11:02:06

I love your songs - they are great ambient music.

I'd love some Orz tunes though. Unbiased of course.

August 11th, 2004 - 20:16:42

Visit http://sc2.sourceforge.net for information on how to use the music in the game.

August 10th, 2004 - 23:33:14

I would love to use this music while playing UQM. Is there any way to do that?

August 9th, 2004 - 08:30:35

I really enjoy listening to all the music! I do hope links will be posted to other versions given to the music~ I can't wait until until the entire album is complete.

August 7th, 2004 - 21:22:06

All my friends ask what this new artist is I'm listening to - excellent music, brings back fond memories and makes me want to be reincarnated as a
musician !

August 7th, 2004 - 14:26:33

SC2 remains one of my favorite games of all time, and you've all done so much to enhance an already fantastic gaming experience. I sometimes stop my ship in hyperspace just to listen to the music- great job, guys.

August 1st, 2004 - 11:11:20

Ahh yes! Your new remixes are awesome!!! I am seriously impressed!

C ya,

July 25th, 2004 - 18:34:02

A SC2 fanatic friend of mine introduced me to this site and I have now listened all the music made so far. I must say that I'm really impressed. It feels so SC2, yet so new and fresh. Truly remarkable work.

July 22nd, 2004 - 03:25:35

Thanks for the words of praise!

We *do* have some plans on what we'll do after we release pack 4, but since it hasn't been announced yet, it's still a secret! Mwahahahaaa! ;)

I must point out, however, that some of us also have musical paths to follow outside of the Precursors project. Jouni (Mark Vera), for instance, also works on his new album (follow progress here: http://www.markvera.net ), while me and TiLT (Medieval Future) are making music all the time, both for various projects and for the sheer fun of it! So you won't have to worry about lack of new material from any of us, although we won't be doing music for UQM forever...

July 21st, 2004 - 11:49:21

I have a few questions left. The music is absolutely fantastic, just as the original was! What about the back cover of the second remix pack? Would be great to make it available soon :)

And what is going to happen after the release of the fourth package? Does the Precursor Team say "no, that is enough" or will there be further small releases; perhaps by some other composers? I have great respect in your work - to all -, because you are doing it during your freetime to "resurrect" this great game by contributing remixed sound. Keep it up!

July 19th, 2004 - 02:22:11

Pack 4 wil be done when it's done. It won't be long now, promise. ;) At least nothing comparable to the gap between packs 2 and 3. In fact, most of the music is already finished!

July 19th, 2004 - 00:49:40

when's the 4th album due to be released? :)~

July 12th, 2004 - 20:34:28

I've been waiting for this recent release for months. You guys are plain geniuses. Star Control II's soundtrack has been one of my all time favorites since I first played the game in '93, and it's great to hear what today's synths are able to do with it.

Great Work!!

July 12th, 2004 - 12:05:00

the ur-quan soundtrack sounds so fitting when my boss walks by

July 8th, 2004 - 18:48:05

Been following your progress for awhile...
and was anxiously awaiting the 3rd Remix pack.

it's really quite good. I'm impressed. Thanks for improving on one of the best games of all time.

The Abyss
July 8th, 2004 - 04:08:43

I have to say that the original Star Control music was a large collection of some of the best game music, near perfection. Well, you hav managed to improve upon it. Keep up the good work, I'm waiting anxiously for more!

July 8th, 2004 - 01:42:07

I like the music. keep ut the good work(or should I thank the original composers)

July 5th, 2004 - 13:33:50

(yay, short..)

July 3rd, 2004 - 00:02:10

Ahh,yes,I love your work, and I am pleased I could show it to other people and let them enjoy it.
I enjoyed it myself,too...keep up the good work,
and may my dreaded return will never commence ;).

July 2nd, 2004 - 23:07:06

Loved the game and I am truly amazed by your work, It really brings the great feeling back of the old days, just amazing, keep up the good work!

July 2nd, 2004 - 04:09:30

July 1st, 2004 - 19:19:31

Yes! Yes! Yes! ..... Now we just have to wait for the next one. :)

June 24th, 2004 - 03:06:42

Incredible work! The music is excellent in its own right, even without the game! Please, keep the remixes coming, can't wait to hear the rest!

June 10th, 2004 - 17:40:02

Great work!
Thanks a lot! Waiting for more nice music of this game

June 5th, 2004 - 11:47:15

Why don't you guys get a forum like PHPBB? :)
Still waiting for the 3rd album

June 2nd, 2004 - 06:42:54

Absolutely awesome music!

May 29th, 2004 - 20:03:41

For any problems getting the remix packages to work, ask on the official Ur-Quan Masters forum.

May 29th, 2004 - 17:45:58

Sorry to trouble you with this, but i followed all the instructions from the UQM page, and still cant get the remixes to work..

the quiet fox
May 26th, 2004 - 02:47:57

Downloaded Remix Pack 1 and am voraciously getting the second one as I write this. Thanks for updating/remixing what I thought was the best part of the original Star Control 2, and please keep it coming. =D

The Ur-Quan Heirarchy
May 24th, 2004 - 01:21:05

Attention Webmaster - your site does not respond to standard Heirarchy HTTP Authentication codes, and has therefore been deemed... independant. You will upload your remix of the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za theme song to your web site for people to download, and then step away from your keyboard and await the proper Ur-Quan authorities.

Hi, does this work?

[No it doesn't, but feel free to keep trying. I think censoring idiocy on the internet is fun - TiLT]

May 17th, 2004 - 16:42:41

Superb and thank you! ;'

May 7th, 2004 - 07:34:35

Wow. Been dropping in for a while now, the remixes you guys do are amazing... the relaxing feel while you listen to the Arilou homeplanet theme is amazing, so very relaxing. Keep up the good work guys, this music is great for ambience even when you're not playing SC

May 6th, 2004 - 06:03:40

Incredible! Fantastic! Best storyline, best music, and overall #1 game. If you ever plan to release a sequel of comparable quality, I'll be among first buyers.

May 1st, 2004 - 21:53:36

The Precursors pages should be fixed now. Drop me an email if you encounter any problems.

May 1st, 2004 - 01:36:35

As a newcomer to the SC universe, all I can say is: Wow!
I'm a fan of oldschool games and their music, and I often find myself wishing for a remix of a favorite tune. This has definately increased my interest in the UQM game.

By the way, how is pack #3 coming along?

April 30th, 2004 - 09:53:45

Repost from the medievalfuture.com main page:

There are some problems with sessions on the Precursors webpages. Accessing the music or artist pages will lead to a "This page cannot be accessed directly" error. Just remain patient, and we'll get this fixed ASAP.

April 28th, 2004 - 18:55:04

This is excellent music, thank you. Eagerly awaiting news of the next release.

April 26th, 2004 - 06:11:31

Your stuff is awesome! I found out about it through a game fansite, but I love the music well enough to have people who have never played the game listen to it. They love it too.

April 23rd, 2004 - 20:42:06

You guys rock, and so do Toys for Bob! If there's ever one game worth remaking it's SC2! We all appreciate your hard work.

April 23rd, 2004 - 08:38:20

Excellent work, guys. Thank you for doing what I could not do - redo the music for my favorite game of all time. I am eagerly awaiting the next release... I check the page twice every day! Keep up the good work!

April 16th, 2004 - 21:59:20

This is realy cool music... PC-speaker-QUEEN for me... without music game was so little...

April 7th, 2004 - 10:45:27

Great work. great game, great memory! Big Thx for your work! it's a real thing from *heavy space*.

March 28th, 2004 - 07:07:42

I found your work via the OverClocked ReMix site. I enjoyed the remix from this project that you have there and finally got around to checking out this site. Boy, could I kick myself for waiting so long. Excellent work and I cannot wait until you finish. Your hard work is appreciated. :)

March 22nd, 2004 - 18:35:29

So cool! Excellent work with the ditties; the Mycon and Zoqfotpik were in sore need of a pick-me-up, and that's exactly what they got. I can't wait to hear the remixed race music; they were stupendous 10 years ago, and haven't aged all that badly... but a musical pick me up for the most intricately cool of video games is also warrented.

One trifle - what's with the phone ring and "Good morning!" in the Melnorme song? Seems more disturbing than spacey.

March 22nd, 2004 - 02:52:19

Excellent stuff worthy of the legacy! Long live Star Control!

March 12th, 2004 - 09:20:54

Gotta say, these remixes are something great. I cant stop listening to them - I still have very fond memories of the originals thou. My favorite has to be the Talking Pet music.

I look forward to when the next compelations are released. Keep up the good work.

March 2nd, 2004 - 03:45:54

TiLT was hinting on irc about this guestbook... err, i mean:
great work people. the music is quite astonishing, i'm listening to them every now and then though my favourites so far is "Under a Red Sky", "Welcome to Falayalaralfali" & "Through the Angles of Space" in that order. I had a hard time choosing which one of the two first i thought was better, but the bagpipe'ish synth in the end of "Under a Red Sky" tipped it over the edge :)
Keep up the excellent work, i'm looking forward to hear more from you

Trazlo Trevize
March 1st, 2004 - 00:47:55

I am in heaven. I never ever got to play SC2 because I found out about it far too long after came out, but now I have a chance to reclaim the chance that I so foolishly squandered in my youth! You guys have done such excellent work on the music, It is sheer euphoria to listen to it, so good luck for the future!

February 22nd, 2004 - 23:16:35

Hi folks,

the Original SC2 was one of the few games (until today) I just played to hear that great music. Of course the rest of it was great, too. Didn?t knew about the 3DO-Version and got the "remixed" tracks by downloading UQM as it reached version 0.1. Very good stuff. It is quite not as good as the oldest version, because of the memories bound to it, but it gets pretty close! Similar feelings, but more modern sound. And now I tried these "new" remixes a few days ago. Wow! The first time I thought "well, a bit strange", but each time listening it became better and better. I am really looking forward to the next two packages. Can?t get enough of it - all three "generations" and waiting for UQM 1.0 :)

Nuke Boy
February 21st, 2004 - 10:42:25

Wow! The music is sweet. I first played SC2 back in 93 when I was a Navy Nuclear Tech. I loved the music then, and I still love it today. Found you guys whilst searching for some original .mod files(heh). You folks really do the music justice. I am very glad I stumbled upon it. Keep up the excellent work!

February 18th, 2004 - 11:22:13

wanna more quick!

February 17th, 2004 - 16:26:41

Heh. I have Starbase, Druuge and Sa-Matra on my playlist right now. :-P

February 16th, 2004 - 23:16:38

You know, Starbase is MY favourite as well, probably because of all the hours of intense work that I and TiLT put into it. (Um, no offense to Riku and Mark Vera, mind you. Melnorme and Druuge are great, too!)

February 16th, 2004 - 15:07:33

Hi guys

I just dropped by to post a thank you message for the work you've done with the SC musics. So there. Thank you. ;)

My absolute favorite remix so far is the Starbase - Under a Red Sky.

Keep up the good work!

February 11th, 2004 - 14:07:08

Greg, you'll have to email riku about that. I don't know if those remixes are already done, but I do know some of us would also love to do them. As always, if we end up with more than one version of a remix, we choose what we think is the best one, and make the other one a bonus track. :)

February 11th, 2004 - 02:26:24

Sorry here's the site for it

February 11th, 2004 - 02:25:34

I was serching through remixes I found some time ago and found "Mark Vera"'s remix of the hyperspace tune it's his remix not uqm's sounds pretty good some of it sounds like Van Halen's "1984".

Greg Szymanski
February 11th, 2004 - 01:56:15

Void - do you guys mind if I remix the intro theme for the final release?

I have already started work on it and I must say that it sounds quite epic and true to the original. I might post a short clip later on...

I'd also love to do the music for the short countdown bit at the end, before the final track.

February 10th, 2004 - 19:07:18

Relax people think what is left the hardest one to remix in 3 namely Both Ur-Quan (green and Black) the umgah the Mycon and the illwrath most of them have little sound. what i'm whatting for are the yehat and chmmr remixes.

February 8th, 2004 - 01:21:24

We've been getting that question a lot lately. The lowdown: we're still working on it, and it'll be out when it's done. It won't be too long now, promise... ;)

Sampo V.
February 7th, 2004 - 16:28:50

I know this really isn't very kind thing to ask, but why the Remix Vol. 3 isn't released yet? I've been waiting it for ages (at least it feels like eternity). I don't mean to rush or offense you guys, but first it looked like you'd release the volumes regularly with only two week gaps.

February 7th, 2004 - 06:12:57

Two of us are based in Norway, and two in Finland. There are small biographies of us at the "The Precursors Team" page.

February 7th, 2004 - 06:12:04

Well, our profiles show which countries we are from. Considering this server is owned by a friend of mine, it's based in Norway, and thus Norwegian time.

I could probably code something that showed the correct time based on where you log in from, but what do I look like? A guy who's not lazy? ;)

February 7th, 2004 - 03:32:23

what country are u guys based in?
I noticed the time difference.
I'm rihgt here in the USA and my clock says it's 21:33

February 7th, 2004 - 02:20:11

you can download the track here http://www.tmalliance.com/music.shtml
if u don't own the game be wary.

February 7th, 2004 - 02:17:34

I know I stumbled across this site back in june as well I was looking for a hack, I mean who the hell still has the starmap? I was wondering about an idea for a Koar-Ah remix I was thinking something across the lines of "Drop Dead" from Twisted Metal (PS1 Track 8) the first for u gamers it was played in the original rooftop level it sounds evil to begin with what you all think?

February 7th, 2004 - 00:28:33

Wow...I was browsing google while reliving one of the best games I have ever played in my childhood and came across the work being done to this epic game. We definitely need to push harder for another sequel, even if it's driven by the community. People today seem to think that 3d and 1st person make a good game, when it's really content, quality and story that make something epic. I really look forward to the end of the cookie cutter game and people want quality, not bastardizations! Good job, keep striving and return quality to the entertainment industry. Even if we have to push the development by hand ourselves. -J

February 6th, 2004 - 10:10:46

Ok, instead of reworking sfx I decided to rework the Hyperspace theme for you (too much time on my hands ;).

Its very true to the original track, just updated. Hope you enjoy.

I can't do links here so paste the following into your browser.

Its the file titled Greg Szymanski - Hyperspace theme remake.ogg

February 6th, 2004 - 05:14:26

At Least I know someone agrees with me. Personally I converted both Hyperspace (The original not UQM) And The Chmmr theme to Mp3 format via sound recorder then encoder. For some reason the one that I did comes out better than the one on PN&F I wonder why? Are there any encoders that will do this digitally as opposed to messing with my sound card? Email me plz MTV2K12001@yahoo.com. Any adverts I kick ur ass.

Greg Szymanski
February 6th, 2004 - 04:59:42

I agree about the hyperspace tune. Is it possible to rework the original with high quality tones and samples but keep exactly the same music and structure?

Just an update would be excellent.

I might start updating the sound efx too as they are too lo-fi for me these days. If anything good comes out of it I will be sure to post it on the web...

February 6th, 2004 - 03:10:10

Don't take this the wrong way but certain tracks SHOULD NOT be touched, they have become classics no offence Riku but Hyperspace is one of them I know you wrote originally it just struck me as too slow errie and mysterious.

Greg Szymanski
February 4th, 2004 - 05:51:17

I didn't even know you guys got so much completed! Great website, very good music.

Has work begun on the next two albums?

February 3rd, 2004 - 19:41:50

Superb work, thank you! Captures the spirit of the original SC2 and brings back some very good memories :) My favourite tracks are by Riku.

February 3rd, 2004 - 11:57:02

Great job!!! I was thinking about it for a very long time! I'm a musician too, and maybe i'll some sc2 themes! )

February 3rd, 2004 - 02:03:13

I stand mistaken

February 2nd, 2004 - 01:00:01

Not according to the Pages of Now and Forever it isn't.

February 1st, 2004 - 18:55:46

Hey guys, the music is awsome, as you must already know. I listen to it all the time.
I think you may have a spelling mistake in the ariloo track. Isn't Falayalaralafi, not Falayalaralfali?

January 29th, 2004 - 11:07:00

Your music inspires future space explorers ;)

In other words, thanks and rock on. The tracks are amazing and for those who played the game they only add to the value.

ta av folkens !

January 26th, 2004 - 17:25:51

I just found this website a while ago. Gonna go download the songs now (although my steam-driven 56.6k modem might not live through the experience)

January 26th, 2004 - 03:43:00

Wow... that is some good stuff. Listening to you guys just makes me realize how much I suck at music making. My only qualm is that now that the music is being put at such a high level, it is going to make the graphics look really out of place. Any one out there want to work on that?

January 25th, 2004 - 14:04:18

This is an amazing task you all have devoted yourselves to! I just wanted to let you know that your work is incredible and is truly appreciated!! I can't wait for the release of the next 2 albums! Keep up the great work!

January 24th, 2004 - 03:45:32

sorry to say this, guys, but the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za theme in-game is just too perfect. There is no way to improve on it.. but don't let that stop you.

I love you guys. And your music too. D:

Gill Bates
January 21st, 2004 - 02:04:17

The music is awesome! All 4 guys are amazing composers.
But, medievalfuture are so good I cannot stop listening to some of their remixes.

January 20th, 2004 - 18:45:47

Although this must be obvious to you guys, I still would like to add it here:

Your music tracks are outstanding!!! I am really looking forward to your next remixes!!

Keep up the good work & Take Care,

January 20th, 2004 - 14:31:54

Well, you already know I enjoy (most of) your work, but let's make this official. Great job guys.

January 20th, 2004 - 14:05:59

Ooops! That must have been there since we first created the Precursors homepage back in October or so. Fixed! :)

January 20th, 2004 - 07:42:51

Hi! Listened to all the remixes this evening. Enjoyed a great deal. Slylandro remix is indeed seamless. I set it to loop and didn't even realise I'd had it running for about ten minutes. Nitpick on site main page. "an impossibly advanced that disappeared tens" (race?)
