Makes me think of lots of little goo balls running around and screaming.

Hahaha I like this one a lot, actually! It's crazy!

The first thing I thought when I heard this one was something like "Gulp! We're doomed! Save yourselves! Run for your lives!". I guess that it clearly represents the feelings of a common Spathi at every hour.

Ha! I love this remix! Though fairly different from the original, the pure SPATHI-ness of it makes me grin. XD It's a lot of fun, in my humble opinion.

Wow! I hear this and I think about lots of Spathis sliding all around in panic. It suits them!

Good job!

Wow that drumline is way beyond syncopation. It feels like that drum is really hammering on my eardrums, and I can hardly extract the melody at all form the fractured rhythm. The places where I can hear the melody at all, you've done interesting things to rearrange it, but those whacked-out rhythms are making my ears bleed.

I must admit, I approached this one carefully, the Spathi theme being my favourite of all the Starcon2 tracks.

I always picture the scene aboard a Spathi ship as you approach: "Red alert, Captain! Unidentified vessel approaching! Look at the size of it! Ohmygodohmygodohmygod! They're hailing us! What do we do??!! Keep it together, man! Uh... Hello?"

With that kind of mindset, the frenetic pace of the track is completely justified, and works well. I'm glad that the melody at the end of the track (2:50 or so onward) remained untouched, although the instrumentation changes around that time might be a little TOO wild for that point in the tune.

All in all this is a fine effort. I see in the track name that this track is intended for the "Safe ones", with that in mind, I can't wait to hear Fwiffo's Star Runner.

Keep up the good work!

Yes, Stephen, I'm sure they're going to drop everything they've done already and re-do them all to fit your wishes.

Have you found a single thing good to say about any of these? If not, play the @*$! game with the original soundtrack.

Man... some people seem to think "remix" means "exact duplication of the originals, changing no melodic, harmonic, or rhythmic structure, nor the samples, and yet sounding totally better".

Sounds like Captain Fwiffo forgot to take his ridalin.

Better than original!

Yep you nailed it, right on. This is Spathy I like the idea of having it on the homeworld because it is just SO frantic.

My thoughts went to 3 things. Tim Burton, Gremlins the movie and some random slasher flick. The Spathi are a cowardly race of "meta-mollusks" but this is too much. I like some elements of the song but overall no. I gotta say it. It needs work. Allot of work. This is definitely NOT the one. Not even for the Homeworld or Fwiffo. The only application I can think of for this music is a Spathi fight music and I already regret saying that. Please just drop this one and make a more sane version.

Good stuff, man! I'm sure the Spathi would approve! :P

I love this song, it's so crazy it's great. Almost definately my favorite song released thusfar.

This one is a tough sell; perhaps if the original track's melodies were in the foreground, instead of the bassline background, it would sound a lot less repetitive without sacrificing the frantic feeling that it evokes. I always loved the original's "innocent" feeling. I do have to agree with the others - it's definitely got "Spathi" written all over it :)

Like, oh my god...I don't think you could have gotten the Spathi meaning of life more so. The song matches them to the teeth and I was very impressed.

Yup, definitely Spathi.

It took a little while, but this remix really grew on me a lot. I smile every time at how perfectly it conveys the frantic emotions of the ultra-paranoid Spathi.

Chez'puf

It almost makes the Spathi sound like a ravenous horde of cowardly snails, ready to erupt from the shadows all around you and beg, "Please! Don't let me die today! Tomorrow would be so much better!"

A more restrained version would be appropriate for ship-bound Spathi, but I really do enjoy this remix. There's nothing confusing about this version of the Spathi tune; it's got a hint of flailing panic in it, which is highly appropriate.

GSL

This remix is absolutely psycho, and I adore it. I agree that saving this for the Spathi homeworld -- or possibly Fwiffo's own ship -- and having a different mix for other Spathi ships would be really cool. But until expansions to UQM like that happen, it works perfectly as the psychotic Spathi theme.

It's CRAZY!
I love it!
The chaos,ahh the chaos...
can't wait for "Fwiffo's StarRunner"!

I LOVE this remix. It was one of my favorite original songs, and this remix is so... frenetic that I can't HELP but to love it. It's VERY Danny Elfman in style, it has that same bouncy exuberance, with a hint of darkness and uncertainty. Well done!

ah, well done Jouni! it does have that feeling of being on a brink of madness.. I have to admit I like it!

from the description I understand there'll be a 'standard' version for the Spathi chats while this one's saved for the homeworld.. Excellent!

This is .. GREAT! Just the right theme for a bunch of proud cowards.

I'll have to disagree with the other guys. This track fits the Spathi quite well, I like it alot. It has that "frantic coward" feel to it. Nice work!

I have to agree with Aki that the noise in this tune is a little overboard. I certainly wouldn't say it's one of the worst remixes - in fact, it's probably my second or third favorite. It's an excellent song, does a good job of staying true to the original (which was an excellent composition to begin with), and adds on a bit. But even speaking as a fan of noisecore, glitchcore, and speedcore - the noise is just a bit incoherent and jarring.

aki latvamäki
February 7th, 2004 - 18:14:30

I think this is one of the worst ones. It's my favourite song of the originals. It's a rape! The overwhelming noise isn't something you can enjoy. You can barely hear the original from the background. I am very dissapointed.

A: You can use winamp with disk writer output (from preferences) to save the mod to wav. Then you can compress it into ogg (or mp3 if you must). Also modplugplayer should play the format correctly (winamp has some limitations to mod/s3m/xm playing).

The best remix yet. Sorry bout' the confusing address though. This one is unique among the rest it kept all the original beats and elements of the original tune. Quick question are there any utilities that can convert the original mod files to something more flexible say wav wma mp3 or ogg would be helpful it difficult with sound recorder(Win98) it skips?
