space.mod is by far my favorite track in the game, and I always like, from time to time, start a new game just to see the Vindicator arriving on the Solar System.

Then again, listening carefully to this remix, I have to say Jouni Airaksinen did an awesome job in capturing the original mood and melodic trips of the original.

If the game music code could be made more dynamic, this could be faded in at different points. The couple first minutes suit either solar system or planet exploration, the more melodic part that begins at 5-6 minutes would play only on planets (perhaps only certain types of planets).

I like how it starts by stretching out the original sounds but then it seems to go off into a different piece of music like Alpha Centauri (about 8:30). Birds (at 7:36)? In space? Where are those Pkunkos? I agree with Censored and GSL. Keep the melody and make about 5 minutes as a loopable track. Maybe have theme music as in when you are in the space of another race a different variation of the space theme but only if the area is known to be that races space. I don't want to tip a musical hand. As a piece of music I like it but just not as THE 'space' music. Keep up the good work. I'm sure you will find the balance.

Well, I agree that it wouldn't be bad if it had a wee bit more structure. But let's not exagerate; the original didn't have all that much structure neither. This remix does a very good job at conveying 'mysterious outer space' feeling, better then the original one, even (though some parts are a bit less IMHO, like that 30sec long in-between starting at 6.30.).

All in all I think it's a slight improvement to the original, especially concerning the mistique of outer-space.

I don't really have any strong opinion on this one, nor did I of the original. It's a lot of synth pads and otherworldly sound effects samples, panned around. It definitely conveys an outer-space feel; so did the original. It succeeds in doing that for me, though I do agree with Censored that a more defined chord structure would make it feel a bit more like a song and a bit less like playing with a bunch of synthpads.

The more melodic stretch that starts at 5:00-ish is actually where I would have started; a player is rarely in a solar system without entering orbit for over five minutes anyway.

I'm sorry, I honestly, put lightly, disagree with this piece. Don't take me wrong, I thank you and the team for contributing and composing music for this non-profit remake, but this song just doesn't fit, imo.
It has no pattern, no.. well, nothing. I agree the original didn't have too much either, but it had pattern, and some melody I can hear in my head - even if it was only one minute it was just enough and I even grew fond of it. This track feels unfinished and otherwise strained and overly stretched for 10 minutes. Look at the Dynarri track - it was just about a minute too and it was remixed wonderfully.

If there's one song that I hope would be changed, it's this one.
